Well, that escalated quickly.
New York State Governor Kathy Hochul may have started in her position as an installed replacement for former Governor Andrew Cuomo – now being rumored as a potential 2028 candidate – but it looks like she has finally started to come up with policies that actually appeal to a broader electorate.
Even better, one of her most recent policies does not have anything to do with handing taxpayers a “stimulus check” that’s hardly large enough to cover a week’s worth of groceries, but everything to do with basic public safety.
Indeed, Hochul has effectively vowed to make prisons great again by using brass tacks efforts on 13,500 “striking” correctional staff.
Apparently, well over 13,000 employees were raging about a number of different situations occurring within the Department of Corrections and Community Supervision (DOCCS), with many apparently refusing to return to work until their demands were met.
Alas, the strike was apparently not conducted within an appropriate legal context, which is precisely why Hochul made the decision to fire every single correctional staff employee that refused to return to work.
That’s right: A de facto sanctuary state governor has apparently decided that people who participate in “unsanctioned” disruptions should face consequences, per a report from the New York Post.
As noted by DOCCS spokesperson Daniel Martuscello, the state is now apparently “committed” to crafting a “resilient workforce.
Which is more than can be said for its support of BLM thugs in 2020.
Not to mention pro-terrorist thugs in 2023 and 2024.
“We are committed to building a dedicated, resilient workforce and attracting the next generation of correctional leaders … We will work to ensure the new department will be safer and more effective for everyone involved,” Martuscello asserted.
And while 10,000 of the 13,5000 employees who were working prior to the strike returned, upwards of 2,000 who refused to return have been “terminated, effective immediately.”
Cue future lawsuits over the “injustice” in being fired for refusing to go to work.
After several warnings, no less.
To be fair, however, DOCCS staff were likely being besieged by an increasingly hostile, “foreign-born” population, for the illegals that actually faced consequences for their actions.
What’s especially amusing is comparing Hochul’s current edict with past data from prison populations across New York State, which further underscores how dire the straits truly have been for correctional systems across the sanctuary state.
Indeed, way back in 1999, the DOJ was already detailing the state of “foreign-born” populations in New York City in a troubling report … as well as the degree to which these populations’ crimes were even worse, apparently, than the crimes of “native-born” Americans.
Pretty scary, considering the level of violence that many “native-born” criminals in America are clearly capable of exhibiting.
“Between April 1, 1985, and December 31, 1998, the overall inmate population of the New York State Department of Correctional Services (DCS) increased by 102 percent; while the number of inmates born in the United States increased by 94 percent during this period, the number of foreign-born inmates increased sharply by 249 percent,” the DOJ reported.
A frightening statistic in any context … though this context is especially brutal. After all, if the “foreign-born” population of inmates has increased by 249 percent as of 1999, just imagine what that population rate increase may have been 25 years later, under the Biden-Harris administration.
Then again, given the absurd “zero bail” policies that have come to animate New York City over the last several years, perhaps the official statistics may have not changed much … though the crime rates across the city, especially in high-value tourist areas, certainly have.
Tellingly, the Department of Justice (DOJ), at least in pre-DEI 1999, also admitted the “DEI” elements of many foreign-born criminals.
“Foreign-born inmates came from 126 different countries, although 77 percent who claimed foreign birth came from either the Caribbean or South America. Nearly two-thirds of foreign-born inmates were born in one of four countries – Dominican Republic, Colombia, Cuba, or Jamaica,” the DOJ continued.
You don’t say. That’s one way to tell a DOJ report was written in 1999, rather than any time during the woke years of the Biden-Harris administration.
“Foreign-born inmates were more likely to be convicted of drug offenses and more serious felonies than inmates born in the United States,” the DOJ added.
Not surprising either, considering the fact that some of the richest people in Mexico and elsewhere in Latin America are drug lords.
Heck, some have even made the Forbes billionaires’ list … for up to seven years in a row!
Lastly, the DOJ humorously appears to be concerned about the cost of housing “foreign-born” criminals.
“As the foreign-born prison population continues to increase and to be imprisoned for a longer time than inmates born in the United States, due to the nature of their commitment offenses, DCS resources are being seriously strained as a result of the increased demand for housing and programming,” the DOJ warned.
Well, that approach that appears to have gone out the window when New York City began paying for illegal migrants to stay in luxury hotels.
Not to mention handing illegal migrants at least $1,000-$1,500 cash monthly for their “relevant food items.”
Clearly, the DOJ’s warnings fell on deaf ears by the time of the Obama and Biden administrations, the two Democrats who have wielded power thus far this century.
Heck, the DOJ’s warnings actually came before the September 11 terrorist attacks – which occurred in New York City.
Making it all the more bizarre why a city that was so decimated in the worst terrorist attack on American soil, ever, is so willing to invaded.
Now, however, that invasion is steadily coming to an end … and, with Hochul’s sudden interest in making prisons great again, the illegal criminals who do remain will eventually face real justice for their grave assault on American society.
