Well, that escalated quickly.
In the spirit of Senator John Fetterman, New York City Mayor Eric Adams has become another high-profile Democrat to have a personal meeting with Trump, undoubtedly sending multiple liberals into a rage.
Not that Adams particularly cares, given the degree to which the Biden administration turned on him.
Indeed, in an official statement, the mayor’s office made it rather clear that he is interested in making New York City great again, and he believes that President Donald Trump is just the person to help with that.
A tall order, to put it mildly, but the difficultly of making New York City great again is precisely why the statement appears so hopeful.
“Mayor Adams will sit down with President-elect Trump and discuss New Yorkers’ priorities. The mayor looks forward to having a productive conversation with the incoming president on how we can move our city and country forward,” the mayor’s office asserted.
“A productive conversation.”
Remember the good old days of productive debates, pre-social media screaming? Otherwise known as the pre-Obama days, given that Obama was one of the more notorious politicians to use social media in order to brainwash impressionable Americans into voting for him.
The pre-Obama days were also characterized by less extreme political polarization, and the rise of such division within the United States is yet another example of the “change” that Obama administration brought about.
“Mayor Adams has made quite clear his willingness to work with President-elect Trump and his incoming administration on behalf of New Yorkers — and that partnership with the federal government is critical to New York City’s success,” the mayor’s statement added.
In other words, Adams, unlike virtue signaling militants in Chicago and Seattle, is likely to help the federal government with its wide-scale mass deportation efforts.
Especially as Trump himself has come to Adams’ defense, following the Dems’ own witch hunt against the New York City mayor.
Per a report from Blaze Media, Trump noted that he didn’t “know the facts” entirely of Adams’s case, though he did believe that “he was treated pretty unfairly.”
Suggesting that Trump may well pardon Adams if it is necessary at some point in the future, especially since the New York City mayor has arguably been the target of a witch hunt himself.
Adams was a former Democrat darling, though his luster has steadily worn off as he apparently sent the former Biden administration into a rage over his remarks on illegal migrants.
Indeed, Adams has overseen one of the city’s worst illegal migrant crises in years, largely initiated by the buses of illegal migrants that Texas Governor Greg Abbott sent to the notorious sanctuary city.
At the time, former White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki snidely dismissed Abbott’s bussing strategy as a “publicity stunt” … though the irony is that same “stunt” is precisely what led to a mass migration of “newcomers” to New York City, costing taxpayers a fortune.
Adams then began to diverge from the Biden White House’s narrative … and soon found himself under investigation by his own party.
Because that’s how lifelong politicians roll.
And the Democrats’ ire against Adams is still evident to this day, which is clear from the angry remarks of New York City comptroller Brad Lander.
“Eric Adams should state immediately that he will not seek or accept a pardon from Donald Trump,” Lander raged.
Right. Because all of the Biden White House’s pardons were so above board.
Lander continued to rant about the apparently “self-interested” mayor, rants that, once again, only seem to coincide with Adams daring to speak to Trump.
“New Yorkers deserve to know that their Mayor is putting their interests ahead of his own – and whether our tax dollars, or Turkish Airlines, will be financing his trip to Florida,” Lander continued to rant.
Meanwhile, Trump has apparently recognized Adams’s willingness to cooperate, and he graciously extended an invitation to his inauguration for such cooperation.
And, as stated clearly by the Deputy Mayor for Communications for the city – Fabien Levy – Adams is intent on helping New Yorkers, not playing partisan politics.
“In the early hours of Monday morning, the Trump administration reached out inviting Mayor Adams to attend the inauguration at the incoming administration’s request. Mayor Adams accepted on behalf of New York City … “As the mayor has repeatedly said, America has chosen a new national leader and we must work together to build a safer, stronger, and more affordable in New York City. An updated schedule will be sent out momentarily,” Levy declared.
If only more Democrats would receive that memo.
