Talk about cutting off one’s nose to spite one’s face.
Because that is exactly what none other than a perennially enraged Liz Cheney is doing with regards to the forthcoming federal election.
As reported by Fox News, Cheney has apparently decided it’s a swell idea to endorse Kamala Harris … as if she couldn’t go even further to the left.
Worst of all, she uses a rather pitiable justification for doing so.
“I don’t believe we have the luxury of writing in candidates’ names, particularly in swing states,” Cheney declared.
In other words, Cheney apparently has enough sense to realize that Harris is somewhat dangerous, hence her reference to “writing in” a candidate’s name in the first place … but she is not sensible enough to vote against an obvious communist due to her longstanding grudge against Trump.
Frankly, “writing in” a candidate would be far more “democratic” anyway if Cheney can’t bring herself to vote for Trump, but it appears she would rather vote for a communist out of pure spite.
What’s especially reprehensible about Cheney’s “endorsement” is the fact that she claims she is doing so out of her “conservative” beliefs.
“As a conservative, as someone who believes in and cares about the Constitution, I have thought deeply about this, and because of the danger that Donald Trump poses, not only am I not voting for Donald Trump, but I will be voting for Kamala Harris,” Cheney declared.
Is that so? Cheney had a rather different attitude four years ago.
In fact, Cheney blasted Harris as a “radical liberal.”
“Her voting record in the Senate is to the left of Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren … It’s very clear, she is a radical liberal,” Cheney ranted in 2020.
In other words, Cheney had far more sense four years ago than she does now.
More than she did by 2022, actually.
By 2022, Cheney had been summarily ousted in the Republican congressional primary in Wyoming, with a Trump-backed candidate claiming victory instead.
“Representative Liz Cheney of Wyoming was resoundingly defeated by Harriet Hageman in her Republican primary on Tuesday,” the New York Times reported, wording that undoubtedly did not sit well with Ms. Cheney.
Cheney was rather enraged, and she apparently made it her life’s mission to “get Trump” ever since he succeeded in ousting her.
Never mind the fact Cheney was ousted because her entire policies became rabidly anti-Trump, rather than pro-American.
Introspection is hardly her strong suit, however, which is why she would rather blame Trump than engage in deeper soul searching.
“I will do everything I can to make sure [Trump] is never anywhere near the Oval Office again,” Cheney raged.
Apparently, “everything” includes voting for a blatant communist.
Nice work, Ms. “Conservative” Cheney.
