Leave it to Chicago Mayor “Brandon” Johnson to try to compete with Los Angeles in terms of recalcitrance towards federal immigration officials.
As detailed by the New York Post, Johnson has effectively proclaimed that law enforcement in Chicago will never cooperate with ICE amid mass deportations.
Branding the raids “unconscionable,” Johnson raged against Trump for supposedly making it difficult for the “government to show up” for various people.
“You know, again, it’s unconscionable at a time in which so many working people and poor people need government to show up for them, that this administration, the Trump administration, has caused so much consternation and division,” Johnson raged.
That complaint does not even make sense. Exactly how does deporting violent criminals unlawfully present in the nation equate to the government “not showing up” for working people?
Is he serious? Does he even know what he is saying?
Or is he just jumbling together a bunch of melodramatic words to achieve an emotional response, rather than measured critical thinking.
Johnson also made it abundantly clear that he could care less what the Constitution has to say about the legal authorities of immigration officials.
“Look, we are welcoming city ordinance … Our local police department will not ever cooperate with ICE, whatever their constitutional authority is. That is obviously relegated to the Trump administration. All of our sister agencies, city departments have been thoroughly briefed by a corporate counsel, and I’ll pass it over to her in a second about what they can and cannot do,” Johnson continued.
Way to muzzle the police, again, “Brandon.
Frankly, unbelievable commentary overall.
The Supreme Court literally just ruled that a singular judge cannot issue injunctions that apply nationwide, yet now one woke mayor is acting as though he can overrule the federal government entirely in his city.
And Johnson is hardly the only one making a real headache for the federal government.
Multiple Democrats have effectively vowed to undermine ICE, including Karen Bass, the mayor of Los Angeles.
Bass has also been nabbing several headlines as of late, which relate to her public opposition to ICE.
And one of the more recent incidents involved her directly meddling with ICE operations.
According to a report from Fox News, Bass went ballistic upon seeing ICE officials conducting preplanned immigration raids.
“They need to leave, and they need to leave right now. They need to leave because this is unacceptable!” Bass raged, shortly after her arrival to MacArthur Park.
The beleaguered mayor also blared that the ICE raids were “un-American” and “outrageous.”
Bass likely didn’t help herself by announcing her arrival in advance on social media.
“This is footage from today in MacArthur Park. Minutes before, there were more than 20 kids playing – then, the MILITARY comes through. The SECOND I heard about this, I went to the park to speak to the person in charge to tell them it needed to end NOW. Absolutely outrageous,” Bass roared on X.
Needless to say, ICE remains unintimidated by the rants of Bass … and it remains equally unaffected by the rants of any other unhinged, pro-mass migration advocates.
