Epstein Case Files Unsealed: Truth Awaits Discovery

Epstein Case Files Unsealed: Truth Awaits Discovery

The American people have a right to know the truth. That belief is as old as our republic and as important today as it was when the Founders wrote the Constitution. Now, with a federal judge allowing grand jury records from Jeffrey Epstein’s 2019 sex trafficking case to be unsealed, we are one step closer to that truth.

For too long, powerful people have hidden behind sealed files, secret courtrooms, and government silence. Epstein was not just a criminal. He was a man with deep ties to the elite—politicians, celebrities, bankers, and academics. He moved in the highest circles, and yet he preyed on the most vulnerable: children and young women. Now, with the Epstein Files Transparency Act, President Trump and Congress have taken a bold step to tear down the wall of secrecy.

These grand jury records, which include testimony from an FBI agent and other materials from Epstein’s 2019 indictment, were once kept hidden under the excuse of “grand jury confidentiality.” But Judge Richard Berman, who once ruled to keep these files sealed, has now changed his mind. Why? Because the law says the people have a right to see them. The Epstein Files Transparency Act, signed into law by President Trump last month, demands the Justice Department open its records to the public.

This is a win for justice. It is also a win for the Constitution.

The Founders believed in open courts and transparent government. They knew that when power is hidden, it becomes dangerous. That’s why the Sixth Amendment says trials must be public. That’s why the First Amendment protects the freedom of the press. And that’s why this new law matters so much. When Congress and the President pass a law to release these files, and the courts obey that law, we see the Constitution in action.

Critics may say the unsealed records are not “revelatory.” They may claim there’s nothing new to learn. But that’s not the point. The people—not the government—get to decide what matters. Even if the testimony is secondhand, even if it’s just a slideshow and a call log, it still belongs to us. We paid for the investigation. We trusted our government to do its job. And now, we deserve to see what they found.

It’s also worth asking why so many people tried to keep this hidden for so long. Epstein died in jail under mysterious circumstances just weeks after his arrest. His top accomplice, Ghislaine Maxwell, is in prison, but many questions remain unanswered. Who enabled Epstein? Who flew on his planes? Who visited his island? And why did past investigations fail to bring him to justice sooner?

These are not conspiracy theories. They are questions based on fact and supported by the Constitution’s promise of equal justice under law.

For years, victims have begged lawmakers to release these files. Survivors of abuse deserve to see their government fight for them—not protect the powerful. So when the House voted nearly unanimously to pass the Epstein Files Transparency Act, they did the right thing. And when President Trump signed it, he stood with the victims.

Still, this is only the beginning. The law requires the Justice Department to release all Epstein-related records by December 19. That includes more grand jury transcripts, more investigation files, and possibly more names. The American people must remain watchful. We must hold our government accountable. And we must demand that justice is not delayed or denied.

Let this be a reminder: sunshine is the best disinfectant. Our system only works when truth is allowed to come to light. By unsealing these records, we honor the Constitution, defend the rights of victims, and send a clear message to the elite—no one is above the law.
