Looks like the Dems’ weaponized court system has struck once again, as evidenced by the rather brutal penalties that a major MAGA ally has just endured.
As reported by The Blaze, Steve Bannon, a longstanding advocate for a conservative American future, is apparently headed for jail, all over a single misdemeanor.
And, predictably, that misdemeanor is quite politicized.
Indeed, Bannon was found guilty of a misdemeanor contempt of Congress charge for failing to comply with a subpoena from the highly partisan House January 6 committee.
A committee spearheaded by the ultra-partisan Pelosi, which is one of the many reasons Bannon chose not to show.
Considering that numerous Democrats have routinely blown off subpoenas, the persecution of Bannon was rather crazy, to put it mildly.
Naturally, Bannon’s attorneys filed an emergency motion that was designed to keep him out of prison, stating that Bannon “reasonably believed – based on the advice of counsel – that he did not have to respond [to the subpoena].”
However, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit denied Bannon’s attorneys’ motion in a 2-1 vote, arguing that “[the] ground for requesting release does not warrant a departure from the general rule that a defendant ‘shall … be detained’ following conviction and imposition of a sentence of imprisonment.”
One of the judges who denied Bannon’s emergency motion is Cornelia Pillard, a “progressive” jurist who was appointed by none other than Obama in 2013.
The other judge, Bradley Garcia, was predictably appointed by Biden in 2022.
In contrast, the dissenting judge was Justin Walker, a Trump appointee, who claimed that Bannon’s appeal may have merit before the Supreme Court.
And, unlike the woke judges, Walker has actual standing for their “no” vote.
Walker argues that Bannon’s case is not underpinned by the application of the decision in Licavoli v. United States, contrary to the other progressive/activist judges’ opinions.
“Because the Supreme Court is not bound by Licavoli, because Licavoli’s interpretation of ‘willfully’ is a close question, and because that question may well be material, Bannon should not go to prison before the Supreme Court considers his forthcoming petition for certiorari,” Walker asserted.
Absolutely right.
Especially when the war against Bannon is based upon his political beliefs, rather than his alleged criminality.
Which Bannon himself proclaimed outside the courtroom.
“All of this is about one thing. This is about shutting down the MAGA movement, shutting down grassroots conservatives, shutting down President Trump,” Bannon asserted.
Absolutely right. And all the Dems are doing is showing that they are willing to destroy the American judicial system in order to do so.
Bannon also blasted Attorney General (AG) Merrick Garland and the Department of “Justice” (DOJ) for their pitiable, and ultimately inadequate, efforts to shut down Trump.
“Not going to shut up Trump. They’re not going to shut up Navarro. They’re not going to shut up Bannon. And they’re certainly not going to shut up MAGA!” Bannon boomed.
That’s absolutely correct.
And Bannon is highly likely to emerge from his jail ordeal even more empowered than before to speak out against those who pose the real threats to freedom.
Starting with the puppet masters pulling upon Biden’s ever flailing strings, who clearly have a vested interest in the downfall of the United States.
