On August 24, five additional buses originating from Texas, each of which was filled with migrants who had illegally crossed into the nation, arrived in the ultra-left wing city of New York.
Collectively, these five buses delivered the largest number of migrants to arrive at the Big Apple in a single day since the inception of Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s busing operation, known as Operation Lone Star. Well over 1,000 migrants have been transferred to New York City this month, counting the migrants in the five buses that arrived on Wednesday.
New York City Mayor Eric Adams has gradually become incensed by Operation Lone Star, a Texas initiative that commenced in order to shuttle migrants to so-called “sanctuary” cities, which permit individuals who unlawfully entered the nation to evade federal law enforcement authorities.
These sanctuary cities include New York City, as well as Washington D.C., which has also been the recipient of several migrant-filled buses.
Adams has blasted the operation as “horrific,” much to the Texas Governor’s amusement.
Abbott argues that his operation is clearly the only tactic that will garner nationwide attention, as politicians are all too eager to ignore the crisis of their own creation on the border.
In a recent opinion piece for the New York Post, Abbott wrote that Adams himself has declared he would be openly “welcoming illegal immigrants into the Big Apple with warm hospitality.”
Operation Lone Star has provided precisely such as opportunity to Adams, given the numerous illegal migrants that have been arriving into the city, but the mayor has apparently grown angered by the outcome he effectively called for by reinforcing New York’s “sanctuary” status.
“Talk is cheap,” Abbott remarked pointedly, “when pressed into fulfilling such ill-considered policies, he wants to condemn anyone who is pressing him to walk the walk.”
Over the course of the Biden administration, nearly five million individuals have illegally entered the United States, per various media reports.
