Schumer Goes To Bat For Biden 2024

Democrat Chuck Schumer recently announced that he would support President Joe Biden for office once again in 2024, if Biden elects to seek a second term as president.

The Senate Majority leader declined to comment on whether or not Biden would succeed in securing the DNC’s nomination for the presidency within the next two years.

“I have said if [Biden] runs, I will support him,” Schumer declared.

An incumbent president has not had a serious fight within his own political party during primary season in 42 years, though such a situation could certainly emerge again if other senior party leaders prefer a different candidate for 2024.

In 1980, Senator Ted Kennedy frequently criticized the performance of then-President Jimmy Carter. Kennedy was also widely perceived as a potential contender for unseating Carter during the Democrat primaries.

History may well repeat itself if another prominent Democrat decides to challenge Biden over the presidency in 2024.

Several candidates are rumored to be eyeing the presidential nomination, including Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, Senator Elizabeth Warren, Senator Amy Klobuchar, Texas politician Beto O’Rourke, California Governor Gavin Newsom, Vice President Kamala Harris, or former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.

Job approval ratings for Biden have fallen dramatically over the past several months in the wake of several issues, chief among them economic, such as inflation.

Furthermore, the United States is approaching its second quarter of negative GDP growth, which usually is indicative of a recession.

In the state of Iowa, which represents the first state of the primary season, Biden’s approval rating is 27 percent, which is the second-lowest approval rating of any sitting president in history.

This rating also falls well below the national averages of 37 and 38 percent, which in and of themselves are fairly low.

Despite the low poll ratings, Biden has repeatedly declared that he will run for the presidency again in 2024.
