Wow, CNN sure is grasping at straws when it comes to Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
Which, of course, is truly a boon for DeSantis’s campaign, as whichever candidate legacy media outlet flips out over is probably a candidate worth sitting in the White House.
From the outrageous commentary on “The View” towards presidential hopeful Tim Scott to the endless attacks on former President Donald Trump, it is clear that the media is hardly an objective arbiter of the news anymore.
And, as they apparently can’t dig up too many negatives on DeSantis, they have descended to a new, embarrassing low.
Just consider their “breaking news” regarding some salacious fact from DeSantis’s past: The Florida Governor briefly hugged Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas.
The horror!

In reality, DeSantis and Thomas’ friendship is old news,” Blaze Media reported.
That’s downright hilarious. “New details” regarding a 2-second hug, if that.
CNN is really grasping at straws with that one.
The hug that apparently set CNN’s tempers ablaze also occurred at the Federalist Society event in Florida more than three years ago, hardly “breaking news.”
Nonetheless, yet another dramatically overpaid talking head turned a photo of DeSantis giving Thomas a quick hug into an entire news segment.
“Didn’t you like that big bear hug at the end there?” CNN Supreme Court analyst Joan Biskupic sneered.
Why yes, Ms. Biskupic, the conservative audience sure did.
“Ron DeSantis, now as a candidate, is taking a page from the Donald Trump playbook and running on the Supreme Court. And he’s doing it in part by holding up Clarence Thomas as a model,” Biskupic raged.
All the more reason for him to be a real contender for the White House in 2024.
Biskupic then proceeded to rant and rave about DeSantis apparently using the same “playbook” as Trump.
“Interestingly, part of the playbook that Trump had involved using Leonard Leo to advise him on his choices for the Supreme Court. And he effectively sought out three very conservative, anti-abortion justices … And Leonard Leo has also advised Ron DeSantis in his role as governor of Florida and he’s chosen his nominees for the Florida Supreme Court,” she added.
Well then.
Trump will certainly not mind that bit of commentary, as he has indicated quite often that DeSantis has adopted large swathes of his campaign from Trump’s famed ideology.
It is truly amazing that CNN apparently draws no connection between its absurd commentary and its spiraling ratings.
Breaking news regarding a brief hug from more than three years ago, really?
If anything, the hug signals DeSantis’s longstanding dedication to conservative values, which is likely why the media is desperately grasping at any straw, no matter how inane, to shade him with.
