Blatantly Racist Graduation Ceremony Brings Massive Blowback

Looks like Columbia University is suffering major league blowback for all the racial division it has happily stoked for years.

Indeed, the school has gone from proudly celebrating racial division (literally) through racially segregated graduation ceremonies to cancelling classes due to uncontrollable “rancor” on campus.

“Rancor” that is a direct result from “solidarity camps” set up all over Columbia University, where “protestors” would effectively issue threat after threat against Jewish individuals while simultaneously proclaiming their self-identification with Hamas.

The response of the Ivy League university?

Per a statement from the President of Columbia University, Egyptian-born Nemat “Minouche” Shafik, the Ivy League apparently decided to bow down to the pressure from extremists and cancel classes.

“To deescalate the rancor and give us all a chance to consider next steps, I am announcing that all classes will be held virtually on Monday. Faculty and staff who can work remotely should do so; essential personnel should report to work according to university policy. Our preference is that students who do not live on campus will not come to campus,” Shafik declared.

Translation: Columbia University’s “preference” is for students to stay home because she’d rather not deal with liability issues.

“Over the past days, there have been too many examples of intimidating and harassing behavior on our campus. Antisemitic language, like any other language that is used to hurt and frighten people, is unacceptable and appropriate action will be taken,” Shafik added.

Is that so? Then why didn’t Shafik bother to tell Congress that highly antisemitic remarks are, in fact, antisemitic?

Indeed, all of two weeks ago, Shafik was asked whether or not “long live infitada” could be considered an antisemitic remark.

“I hear them as such, some people don’t,” Shafik replied.

Well then. That’s hardly a resounding condemnation of antisemitism.

Then again, Columbia University has already made headlines for literally segregated graduation ceremonies, which it proudly introduced during the pandemic.

As detailed by the New York Post, Columbia University made a rather strange decision in 2021, especially amid BLM chaos.

“Columbia University is planning to hold six additional graduation ceremonies for students according to their race and other aspects of how they identify.

The New York City school’s website details graduation ceremonies for Native, Asian, ‘Latinx’ and Black students taking place for Columbia College, Columbia Engineering, General Studies and Barnard College at the end of April. Another dubbed ‘FLI Graduation’ is for ‘first generation and/or low income community.’ The school also hosts a ‘Lavender’ graduation for the ‘LGBTIAQ+ community,’” the media outlet noted.

Well then. Dividing students up based on race and sexual orientation. What could possibly go wrong?

Don’t worry, however – the students were safe from COVID while participating in segregated ceremonies.

“Due to coronavirus restrictions, the ceremonies will take place online,” the New York Post added.

Well, how helpful. Then college graduates can openly display their prejudiced faces.

Needless to say, Columbia University’s calls for a “thoughtful” community fall a bit flat.

“We are a caring, mature, thoughtful, and engaged community. Let’s remind ourselves of our common values of honoring learning, mutual respect, and kindness that have been the bedrock of Columbia. I hope everyone can take a deep breath, show compassion, and work together to rebuild the ties that bind us together,” Shafik brayed.

Columbia University should have thought about “mutual respect” before endorsing racially segregated graduation ceremonies, followed by implicit support for “solidarity camps” cropping up all over campus.

After all, the university opted to cancel classes rather than disband the disruptive “camps.”

Which makes Shafik’s other remark even more bizarre.

“We cannot have one group dictate terms and attempt to disrupt important milestones … to advance their point of view,” Shafik added plaintively.

Is that so? Because that “one group” just won with all the class cancellations.
