Dems Launch Fresh Attack On “Fascist” First Responders

It’s bad enough that New York City “officials” are apparently aiming to rewrite the history of 9/11, but now they’re apparently wishing to erase the importance of first responders on that tragic day to boot.

Despite all the calamity that New York City is currently enduring, much of which can be traced to awful Democrat policies in the first place, it appears that at least one city official is more concerned with suffocating the memory of first responders rather than protecting the residents of New York City.

Apparently, various New York City Fire Department authorities ordered Ladder Company 11 in East Village to remove a flag that had long been in place to honor the memory of six first responders who lost their lives during the tragic terrorist attacks of September 11.

The flag, known as the “thin red line” flag, is designed to honor firefighters, much in the same way that the “thin blue line” flag is designed to honor law enforcement officers.

Of course, flags that honor law enforcement officers apparently became symbols of so-called fascism in 2020, after the explosion of BLM all over the media.

In fact, the New York Times recently denigrated the “thin blue line” flag in an editorial, declaring that “the thin blue line flag has become a potent statement in its own right,” as well as one “that divides America.”

So, it should come as no surprise that the “thin red line” has apparently become controversial in 2024.

To the ultra-woke, firefighters are apparently as “fascist” as law enforcement officers.

Even the ones who served in 9/11.

Apparently, a staffer for so-called “progressive” Manhattan Councilwoman Carlina Rivera biked up to the firehouse and demanded to know why the “fascist symbol” was hanging outside the station.

So, honoring the memory of first responders, who perished while saving the lives of others, is “fascist.”

Got it.

On top of that, Lisander Rosario, yet another staffer for Rivera, wrote to the FDNY directly to complain about the flag.

“I’m reaching out on behalf of a constituent of ours regarding a thin blue/red line flag on Ladder 11 last week … When asked about the meaning, they claimed it was to honor deceased firefighters, however he brought up that they could’ve used any FDNY flag rather than a politically charged symbol,” Rosario raged.

That’s funny.

As so-called “Pride” flags flown all over the world at US embassies are certainly a tad more “politically charged,” yet the practice persisted for years anyway.

Shortly after Rivera’s office threw a fit, FDNY Deputy Chief Joseph Schiralli stepped in and asked for the station to stop flying the flag, as it was apparently offensive to others.

Fortunately, Commissioner Laura Kavanagh reversed the decision within hours, recognizing what a farce Rivera’s attack on the flag was.

However, many firemen remain aghast at the Dems’ open attacks on flags honoring the memory of first responders.

“I wish [Rivera’s office] would have come at it like ‘Hey, we want to learn about the flag and what it represents’ before they asked for it to be taken down,” one fireman remarked.

Alas, that would require “progressives” being interested in actually learning.

Given how little AOC knows about economics despite holding an economics degree, it should come as no surprise that learning was hardly at the forefront of the progressive councilwoman’s activities.

After all, liberals seem to choose repressing over learning just about any day of the week.

No matter how many memories they disparage in the process.
