(Another) Woke Company Hit With Massive Wakeup Call

Looks like another woke company is overdue for a massive wakeup call in the markets, in light of its unwise decision to effectively bash the United States … on July 4.

Ben & Jerry’s, the ice cream company that appears more famous for its leftist politics than its delicious flavors, decided that it would be a great idea to post a rather anti-patriotic message on the Fourth of July.

Specifically, the company decided to stir the pot with a highly inflammatory message regarding the origins of the United States.

“This 4th of July, it’s high time we recognize that the US exists on stolen Indigenous land and commit to returning it,” the company’s official Twitter page proclaimed, adding that multiple indigenous lands, starting with Mount Rushmore, should be returned to Native American tribes.

Needless to say, a host of public officials and Twitter users were not amused.

South Dakota Governor Kirsti Noem immediately fired back at the ice cream company, skewering the obvious lack of education that “liberal Vermont businessmen” have regarding the origins, and intentions, of the nation.

Referring to Mount Rushmore as “the greatest symbol of our freedom,” Noem detailed the lessons that many individuals could learn from the brave founding fathers of the nation.

The same founding fathers whose efforts enabled the entrepreneurial whims of the Ben & Jerry’s founders in the first place.

“We can learn from the men on that mountain. We can do better, but boy did they lead us through some challenging times,” Noem declared, “we should be proud of America and knock off what Ben & Jerry’s is doing. They don’t have any idea what they’re doing.”

No, they surely do not.

Unless, of course, they are paid to be divisive, which is clearly the case with AOC and other deeply inauthentic leftists.

Alongside Noem’s rightful outrage, numerous Twitter users indicated their displeasure with the ice cream company’s anti-American rhetoric, with the hashtag #boycottbenandjerrys trending shortly after the company’s ill-intentioned tweet.

Unsurprisingly, Unilever, the parent company of Ben & Jerry’s, hardly experienced an increase in market capitalization following the incendiary commentary from the ice cream company’s founders.

On the contrary, the company has already lost an estimated $2.6B in market capitalization, per recent reportsfrom the Daily Mail.

The decline in Unilever’s market capitalization brings to mind the ongoing saga of Bud Light, whose own parent company has lost at least $20B in market capitalization ever since woke marketing executives decided it would be a great idea to supplant women with transgenders.

For marketers who supposedly know the core demographics of Bud Light, their approach was bizarre, to say the least.

And, while Ben & Jerry’s has long been known for its more leftist views, its anti-American commentary is especially problematic during times of immense global tension.

After all, neither China nor Russia would be displeased by Ben & Jerry’s anti-American rhetoric. In fact, they would likely welcome it.
