The ink is barely dried on the Supreme Court’s recent (correct) decision regarding affirmative action, yet woke universities are already trying to worm their way around the realities of the decision’s implementation.
Needless to say, the universities have indirectly found a way to still include race as part of the admissions process, chiefly through a so-called “adversity scale.”
As detailed by The Blaze, this “adversity scale” was predictably crafted by an overpaid university administrator, Doctor Mark Henderson, the associate dean of admissions at the University of California Medical School.
That’s right: medical school.
Because a version of “affirmative action,” rather than pure meritocracy, is apparently crucial when it comes to high-risk, deeply complex professions, such as becoming a physician.
Featuring a scale of 0-99, the so-called “adversity scale” measures eight different categories for each applicant, none of which pertain to actual medical professional potential.
These categories include the following: “family income, whether applicants come from an underserved area, whether they help support their nuclear families and whether their parents went to college.”
So, in other words, if a candidate hails from a BLM-centric area, they’ll likely receive a score of at least 80 or higher.
Amazingly, if a candidate’s parent is a physician, even an immigrant who became a physician, they automatically receive a score of 0.
That’s right: zero.
Who on earth would admit to their parents being physicians with that immediate zero? Then again, with the mass surveillance the United States has installed ever since the passage of the Patriot Act in 2001, a system deeply amplified under the Obama regime, these schools likely stalk their candidates to make sure that their parents aren’t hardworking physicians.
Completely insane.
Henderson added that his “adversity scale,” which emerged in the immediate aftermath of the Supreme Court decision, would allegedly address the “staggering economic gap between medical students and the general public.”
You don’t say! Ever occur to Henderson that a “staggering economic gap” exists because some people either refuse to work or refuse to do any work that’s remotely legal?
Alas, the woke California medical school is angered by the fact that over half of medical school students hail from families within the upper 20 percent of the nation’s income brackets, per data from the American Medical Association.
Oh, and children of doctors are apparently 24 times more likely to pursue a career in medicine than children whose parents are not doctors.
Uh … and? How dare responsible parents encourage their children to earn good grades and work hard consistently in order to gain admission to medical school?
For that, their children earn a “zero” on the adversity scale! Literally!
… How utterly absurd and truly tragic.
Medical school admissions are not a “right”; they are the result of year after year of hard work and sacrifice.
The most serious candidates, at least in times past, are unlikely to have spent their time demanding extensions on exams and other absurd requests just because they didn’t like the outcome of an election.
The most serious candidates were too busy studying.
Yet apparently woke universities want to upend all that, all in the name of being “inclusive,” even if such inclusion entails releasing deeply unqualified medical professionals on the market.
Even if such inclusion entails eliminating potential candidates who do not rank high on “adversity,” but they rank extraordinarily high on the basis of their longstanding efforts.
Apparently, however, medical schools across California have a burning desire to punish applicants who dared to have responsible physician parents, all in favor of giving immense preference to applicants who prefer to coast almost entirely off their hardship rather than hard work.
Besides, several Asian individuals migrated to the United States and became medical professionals through extremely hard work, yet these immigrants’ children are now suddenly punished due to the fact the parents actually fulfilled the American Dream after arrival?
What is the Dems’ obsession with propping up the deliberately least productive members of society?
Oh, that’s right: Guaranteed votes and a huge participant pool of “protestors” anytime an actually sane policy (or Supreme Court decision) comes to pass.
Meanwhile, if universities can demand information regarding applicants’ parents, then Americans should have a right to know their future doctor’s medical school admissions “adversity score” in the future, for quite obvious reasons.
