California Governor Gavin Newsom must clearly still be enraged that his own in-laws provided Florida Governor Ron DeSantis with financial donations, which is rather amusing, to put it mildly.
Little wonder he’s been on the rampage ever since, ranting and raving about the alleged threat that DeSantis poses to the nation.
What he really means is the threat to his own potential 2024 ambitions, in spite of the fact he has repeatedly claimed that he is “all in” on a Biden 2024 campaign.
Perhaps, if only because Newsom can exploit such support to continue his nationwide self-aggrandizement campaign.
During a recent appearance in Florida, Newsom made a surprise appearance at New College of Florida to appeal to woke college students.
The California governor, who miraculously managed to “win” in a recent recall election, used all the emotive language that the snowflake generation has become known for, full-blown melodrama and all.
“I’m crawling out of my skin for you … I want you to know you’re not alone. You matter,” Newsom wailed.
Cue the violins.
Then tax the heck out of conservatives to pay for the nonessential service.
After warbling about “crawling out of his skin” for college students, Newsom proceeded to delineate the typical Democrat fear mongering with regards to DeSantis, offering exactly zero concrete examples to support his absurd claims.
“Fifty years of progress, 50 years on voting rights, on civil rights, LGBTQ rights, abortion rights, contraceptive rights, all of that at threat, state after state, led by your state and your governor with a zest for demonization and othering people,” Newsom raged.
Wow. All right then.
Note that Newsom does not point out a single instance of DeSantis’s alleged “demonization” of other people … On the contrary, his pro-family policies are straightforward and applicable to all.
Applicable to all who find things like following the law important, that is.
But Newsom knows his audience, and he knows that audience runs high on emotion and low on facts.
“He has one thing that is common with everything he’s doing – bullying and intimidating vulnerable communities. You’re not only on the right side of history, you have something he’ll never have – moral authority,” Newsom boomed to one of the most amoral generations in American history.
Needless to say, DeSantis was rather amused by Newsom’s maniacal melodrama, if he even noticed at all.
The Florida governor’s Deputy Press Secretary, Bryan Griffin, issued a rather humorous statement indicating that DeSantis did not exactly feel threatened by Newsom.
“Governor DeSantis is focused on getting Florida’s public institutions of higher learning refocused on academics and truth. Stunts from political opponents don’t matter and have no effect,” Griffin drawled.
In other words, DeSantis is playing chess, while Newsom struggles to remember the rules of checkers.
