Ukraine Backs Biden Into A Corner

Looks like the Nord Stream 2 pipeline saga just took another abrupt twist, shortly after Russia began demanding an independent investigation into the real origins of the rather egregiously executed sabotage.

“New intelligence reviewed by U.S. officials suggests that a pro-Ukrainian group carried out the attack on the Nord Stream pipelines last year, a step toward determining responsibility for an act of sabotage that has confounded investigators on both sides of the Atlantic for months …

U.S. officials said that they had no evidence President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine or his top lieutenants were involved in the operation, or that the perpetrators were acting at the direction of any Ukrainian government officials,” the New York Times reported.

Well, how about that. Would this be the same “intelligence” that proclaimed Hunter Biden’s laptop was absolutely nothing more than “Russian disinformation,” only to walk back the claim two years too late?

Especially since the current president of the United States has already gone on the record (literally) about his plans to “end” the Russian pipeline.

Approximately two weeks before the invasion of Ukraine, President Biden delivered rather pointed commentary on the pipeline, which continues to undoubtedly haunt the global reputation of the United States to this day.

“If Russia invades, that means tanks or troops crossing the … border of Ukraine again, then there will be … no longer a Nord Stream 2. We, we will bring an end to it … I promise you, we’ll be able to do it,” Biden boomed.

Lo and behold, the pipeline suffered from massive sabotage on September 26, 2022, resulting in the emission of upwards of 400,000 tons of methane gas, the equivalent of burning multiple billions of dollars’ worth of petrol.

Not exactly a “green” military operation, though one does wonder why greater efforts towards peace aren’t exactly being entertained, given the rather environmentally destructive nature of war.

Apparently, the green from profiteering for a select few will routinely trump all other green concerns.

The problem, however, with directing such an attack is that it runs into direct violation of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (ICC), which legally codified Geneva Conventions on international warfare.

Indeed, the ICC statutes explicitly prohibit “intentionally directing attacks against civilian objects, that is, objects which are not military objectives.”

Which is precisely why Russia is demanding for other nations closely allied with the Biden administration to reveal their real findings regarding the Nord Stream 2 pipeline explosions thus far.

Rather unsurprisingly, these nations have demonstrated an enormous lack of transparency, in particular Sweden.

Which is precisely why Russia’s embassy to Sweden issued a rather pointed statement in recent weeks.

“Almost five months have passed since the sabotage of the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines. All this time, however, the Swedish authorities, as if on cue, remain silent … What is the leadership of Sweden so afraid of?”

Apparently, afraid of upsetting anyone in the Biden regime, or further alienating Russia, which just might provoke an attack on the nation, which is not yet a NATO member.

Little wonder that Mykhailo Podolyak, who serves as an adviser to the Ukrainian president, proclaimed that Ukraine government “was absolutely not involved” in the explosion, lest an even more deadly reply from Russia is warranted.

Boris Pistorious, who serves as Defense Minister of Germany, is also extremely caution in terms of assigning potential blame to the pipeline explosion.

“We have to make a clear distinction whether it was a Ukrainian group, happened on Ukrainian orders, or was a pro-Ukrainian group acting without knowledge of the government … But I am warning against jumping to conclusions,” Pistorious insisted, adding that the event may also have been a “false flag” operation ostensibly engineered to blame Ukraine.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, however, remains unconvinced, especially as Russia has been unable to participate in the investigation of the destruction of its own pipelines.

“We are still not allowed in the investigation … Only a few days ago we received notes to that effect from the Danes and Swedes. This whole thing is not just weird. It reeks of a heinous crime,” Peskov proclaimed.

Unfortunately, and tragically, the Biden administration appears to be fueling Russian propaganda.
