Rosie’s Rant: Is Trump Derangement Syndrome Real?

Rosie O’Donnell, once known for her comedy, is now making headlines for something far more troubling. In a recent interview, she admitted that her daughter, who has autism, has started repeating angry words and actions that reflect Rosie’s own hatred for President Trump. The child reportedly pounds on a table and says “Damn him,” all because her mother blames the President for nearly everything wrong in her life—even moving her family out of the country. Rosie declared they had to flee to Ireland for “safety,” telling CNN’s Jim Acosta that Trump is “destroying the country.”

Let’s take a moment to reflect. What kind of parent allows their own political rage to shape the thinking of a child—especially one with special needs? Children are like sponges. They soak up what adults say and do. If a mother constantly speaks in anger and fear, it’s no surprise that her child will echo that same fear. But this isn’t just about Rosie O’Donnell. This is about a larger problem we face in America today: Trump Derangement Syndrome, or TDS.

TDS is a term many use to describe an irrational, emotional hatred for Donald Trump. It’s not rooted in policy disagreements or facts—it’s driven by blind fury. And when people let that hatred take over their minds, it affects those around them, including their children. The Constitution gives every American the right to free speech. But it also demands that we act with reason, not madness. Our Founders warned against letting emotions rule over logic. They gave us a republic, not a mob.

Rosie’s story is a sad example of what happens when politics becomes personal obsession. Instead of teaching her daughter how to think for herself, she taught her to fear and hate. That’s not parenting. That’s brainwashing.

Meanwhile, President Trump continues to face attacks from not just celebrities like Rosie, but also from members of the media who push false narratives. During a press briefing over Thanksgiving at Mar-a-Lago, a reporter from CBS News, Nancy Cordes, questioned why Trump blamed the Biden administration for a deadly shooting in Washington, D.C. involving two National Guard soldiers.

Trump didn’t hold back. He asked Cordes directly, “Are you stupid?” That may sound harsh, but let’s pay attention to why he said it. The suspect in the attack, Rahmanullah Lakanwal, was a former CIA collaborator from Afghanistan. He entered the U.S. under so-called “humanitarian” programs after Biden’s disastrous withdrawal in 2021. Trump pointed out what should be obvious: Biden’s decisions let dangerous people into our country without proper vetting. Now, two brave soldiers have paid the price.

When a reporter ignores that fact and instead suggests the suspect was properly screened, she’s not doing journalism. She’s pushing a lie. And President Trump, as usual, called it out. Some say his words were too strong. But in times of crisis, we need leaders who speak plainly and stand for truth, not those who tiptoe around feelings.

The Biden administration’s failure in Afghanistan caused ripple effects that we are still feeling today. And now, with rising violence in D.C., Biden’s allies are using the tragedy to justify more federal control, including a so-called “takeover” of local law enforcement. That’s not the solution. The real problem is border security and failed policies that put Americans at risk. The Constitution gives the federal government certain powers, but it also gives states and cities the right to govern themselves. We must not allow a crisis—especially one caused by federal failure—to become an excuse for more central control.

In the end, both Rosie’s confession and the White House response to the D.C. attack show the same problem: a refusal to take responsibility. One blames Trump for her own decisions. The other avoids blame for a tragedy that their own policies helped create.

We, the people, must stay grounded. We must teach our children to think clearly, not with hate. We must demand truth from our media and accountability from our leaders. And above all, we must defend the Constitution and the values that make this nation free.
