Trump Backs Bill to Unveil Epstein Files

Trump Backs Bill to Unveil Epstein Files

The American people deserve the truth. That’s the simple idea behind a new bill in Congress that would force the Department of Justice to release all its files on Jeffrey Epstein. For too long, the DOJ has kept this case locked away from public view. Now, thanks to President Donald Trump’s strong support, House Republicans are stepping up to shine a light on the truth.

Jeffrey Epstein was a known sex trafficker with deep ties to the wealthy and powerful. His mysterious death in federal custody left Americans with more questions than answers. Who were his clients? Who helped him? Who looked the other way? These questions have never been answered. And that’s not right.

Our Constitution was built on the idea of transparency and accountability. The government works for us, not the other way around. This bill, led by Rep. Ro Khanna, a Democrat, and Rep. Thomas Massie, a proud Republican and defender of liberty, would force the DOJ to open the books on Epstein’s case. President Trump has said clearly that these files should be released. That’s leadership.

Some Republicans have concerns about the way the bill is written, and that’s fair. Speaker Mike Johnson said he wants to make sure innocent people are protected. That’s a responsible approach. Our legal system is based on the idea that people are innocent until proven guilty. We don’t want to harm victims or wrongly accuse people. But we also can’t allow the DOJ to use that as an excuse to hide the truth forever.

Rep. Byron Donalds from Florida hit the nail on the head. He said the Epstein case has become a huge distraction in Washington. He’s right. Americans want justice for the victims. They want to know who was involved. And they want to make sure this never happens again.

Rep. August Pfluger, also from Florida, reminded us that transparency is key. His district, like many others, is tired of the double standards in Washington. If the average American did what Epstein did, they’d be in jail for life. But because Epstein had connections to the elite, his secrets have been buried. That’s not justice.

Rep. Erin Houchin from Indiana said she’s ready to vote the bill out of the House and send it to the Senate. That’s exactly the kind of action we need right now. We can’t wait any longer. The longer the DOJ hides these documents, the more people lose trust in the system.

Some Republicans, like Rep. Andy Ogles of Tennessee, were worried the bill might interfere with ongoing investigations. But once President Trump gave his support, many of those concerns faded. Trump has always stood with the American people, not the Washington swamp. His backing gives this bill the momentum it needs.

Rep. Rich McCormick of Georgia said it best: once Trump got behind the bill, Republicans felt more confident. That’s because Trump has always fought for truth, no matter who it upsets. Whether it’s the media, the deep state, or corrupt elites, Trump has never backed down.

Of course, there’s still work to do. The Senate will have a chance to make changes to the bill. Rep. Massie said he’s open to improvements, as long as they don’t limit what gets released. That’s the right attitude. We can protect victims while still exposing the powerful people who may have committed crimes.

In the end, this is about restoring faith in our justice system. The DOJ doesn’t get to decide which crimes matter and which ones don’t based on who’s involved. The American people have a right to know the full truth about Epstein’s crimes and who may have helped him. President Trump has made that clear.

Now it’s time for Congress to follow his lead. Pass the bill. Release the files. Let the truth come out. Only then can we begin to clean up the mess left behind by years of corruption and cover-ups.
