Something serious is happening in American politics, and it’s time we all pay attention. A man named Zohran Mamdani has just been elected mayor in New York City. He’s not just a regular Democrat. He’s a self-declared socialist—some even say communist. That’s not just a label. It reflects the beliefs and ideas he stands for. And those ideas are dangerous to our country, our families, and our Constitution.
House Majority Whip Tom Emmer put it plainly when he said Mamdani’s win marks the “death of the Democrat party as we once knew it.” He’s right. The party of John F. Kennedy and even Bill Clinton is gone. In its place is a new far-left machine that supports radical ideas, celebrates violent rhetoric, and turns its back on American values.
Let’s start with New York City. It’s the largest city in America. It’s where Wall Street, Broadway, and the Statue of Liberty live. It should be a place of freedom, opportunity, and law and order. But with Mamdani in charge, the city risks falling further into crime, debt, and division. This is a man who supports socialist and Marxist policies—ideas that have failed again and again in places like Venezuela, Cuba, and the old Soviet Union.
Socialism may sound good in speeches, but it always ends with fewer freedoms, more government control, and less prosperity. Under Mamdani, we can expect more attacks on police, higher taxes, and more government interference in daily life. That’s not progress. That’s a step backward—away from the Constitution and the freedoms it protects.
But this problem isn’t just in New York. Look at what’s happening in Virginia. Democrat attorney general candidate Jay Jones won his race, even though shocking text messages from him were made public. In those texts, he talked about shooting a fellow lawmaker, Todd Gilbert. He even imagined Gilbert’s children dying in their mother’s arms. These are not the words of a leader. These are the thoughts of someone who should never be in public office.
Yet the Democrat Party stayed silent. Why? Because they’re too afraid to stand up to their radical base. Or worse, they agree with it. Either way, the result is the same: the party of reason and debate has become the party of rage and revenge.
This is not the America our Founders wanted. James Madison, author of the Constitution, warned us about factions and unchecked power. George Washington warned against political parties becoming tools for division and bitterness. That’s exactly what we’re seeing now.
Today’s far-left Democrats don’t believe in free speech unless they agree with it. They don’t believe in the Second Amendment unless it’s in the hands of the government. And they don’t believe in equal justice if it gets in the way of their political goals. That’s why we see them cheering on people like Mamdani and ignoring violent remarks from people like Jay Jones.
Thankfully, there is still hope. The American people are waking up. More and more voters are rejecting these radical candidates and turning back to the principles that made this country great: freedom, faith, family, and the rule of law. Under President Trump, we are seeing a revival of those values. We are seeing strong leadership that defends the Constitution and puts America First.
But the fight is not over. We must stay alert and keep speaking the truth. We must support leaders who believe in liberty, not socialism. And we must teach our children what makes this country special—because if we don’t, the radicals will.
The rise of men like Mamdani and Jones is a warning. But it’s also a call to action. The future belongs to the people who love this country, not those who want to tear it down.
