The United States is a nation of laws, and those laws must be upheld. That is not just a nice idea—it is the very foundation of our Republic. One of the most important duties of our federal government is to protect our borders and enforce immigration laws. That job falls to the brave men and women of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or ICE. Right now, they are under attack.
According to new data from the Department of Homeland Security, death threats against ICE officers have surged by an unbelievable 8,000 percent. These are not just angry words online. These are real, dangerous threats. ICE officers and their families are being stalked, doxxed, harassed, and even offered up as targets for murder-for-hire schemes. In one case, a man posted on TikTok offering $10,000 for someone to kill an ICE agent. That’s not free speech. That’s criminal behavior.
Let’s be clear: ICE officers are not the villains. They are the ones standing between us and chaos. Every day, they take on dangerous tasks—removing violent criminals, drug traffickers, and human smugglers from our communities. They are enforcing the laws that Congress passed. They are doing their duty to this country. And yet, instead of being praised, they are being treated like enemies.
This kind of hatred doesn’t come out of nowhere. It has been fed by radical politicians and activist groups who call ICE agents “Nazis” and compare them to the Gestapo. These are disgusting lies. And those lies are fueling real violence. When people hear this kind of talk from elected officials, they start to believe it’s okay to threaten or attack law enforcement. That is dangerous, and it must stop.
We cannot allow political hatred to become a license for violence. No one, no matter how passionate they feel about immigration, has the right to terrorize government officers and their families. A civil society depends on law and order. If we lose respect for those who enforce the law, we lose the rule of law itself.
Some cities and states have made things worse by declaring themselves “sanctuaries” for illegal immigrants. In doing so, they not only ignore federal law—they also send a message that ICE officers are the enemy. That message has consequences. According to DHS, it is part of what’s driving this flood of threats and violence.
Thankfully, the Trump administration is not backing down. DHS has made it clear: ICE will continue to do its job. No amount of threats or name-calling will stop them. And those who attack or threaten officers will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. That is exactly how it should be.
The Constitution gives the federal government the power to enforce immigration laws. That power is not optional. It is not something states or activists can just ignore. When ICE officers carry out their mission, they are upholding federal law—and by extension, the Constitution itself.
We must stand with them. Not just in words, but in action. That means holding accountable anyone who threatens violence. It means demanding that our leaders stop demonizing law enforcement. And it means restoring respect for the rule of law in every part of this country.
No American should have to fear for their life simply for doing their job—especially not those who protect our borders and our communities. ICE officers are heroes. They deserve our thanks, our prayers, and our full support.
In times like these, we must remember that freedom and safety go hand in hand with justice. And justice begins when we protect those who protect us.
