Fetterman Breaks Democrat Ranks, Calls for Truth

Senator John Fetterman just did something few Democrats are willing to do in 2025: he told the truth. At a NewsNation town hall, he reminded the country that not everyone who supports President Donald Trump is a fascist or a Nazi. In fact, he said, “I know and I love people that voted for President Trump. They are not fascists. They’re not Nazis. They’re not trying to destroy the Constitution.”

Coming from a Democrat senator from Pennsylvania, this statement is more than just surprising—it’s a much-needed breath of fresh air. In a time when the radical left calls anyone who disagrees with them a “threat to democracy,” Fetterman’s words are a reminder that political disagreement is not hate. It’s freedom.

But Fetterman didn’t stop there. He bravely called out his own party for using dangerous rhetoric that leads to real-world violence. He spoke about the tragic assassination of conservative leader Charlie Kirk. The killer, a far-left radical, had written “Hey fascist, catch!” on a bullet casing. That’s not just hateful—it’s deadly. And it’s the direct result of years of Democrats calling Trump supporters “Nazis” and “white supremacists.”

Fetterman asked a simple but painful question: what would have happened if President Trump had been hit the same way as Kirk during the attempted assassination in Pennsylvania? It’s a chilling thought. The truth is, violent words lead to violent actions. Fetterman is warning his own party to cool down the hate before more lives are lost.

Even more telling, Fetterman has shown he’s not afraid to break ranks when it matters most. While other Democrats have voted ten times to keep the government shutdown going, Fetterman is standing up and saying no. As he put it, “I follow country and then party.” That used to be a common idea in Washington. Now it’s rare.

Why is the government still shut down? Democrats are demanding an extension of enhanced Obamacare subsidies—subsidies that were written to expire by their own party in the 2022 Inflation Reduction Act. Republicans, led by a 53-seat majority in the Senate, have offered to vote separately on the healthcare issue. But Democrats are refusing. They’re holding the government hostage to score political points.

Even Senator Fetterman admitted the truth. “This was designed by the Democratic Party to expire at the end of the year,” he said. “This is not something taken by the Republicans.”

Here’s the video where Fetterman blows up the Democrats’ shutdown narrative:

It’s refreshing to hear a Democrat admit what many Americans already know: this shutdown isn’t about healthcare. It’s about power. The left is trying to force Republicans to accept a bad deal. But President Trump and Senate Republicans are standing firm. They’ve said they’re open to debating healthcare. But not while the government is closed and workers are going without pay.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt made it clear: “The president is bending over backwards to do what’s right by the American people, and the Democrats are continuing to play partisan politics.”

She also called on “sensible Democrats” to show “just a little bit of courage” and vote to reopen the government. Fetterman has done just that. He’s proven that it’s possible to be a Democrat and still put the country first.

In a time of deep division, Fetterman’s words and actions are a reminder that truth still matters, and so does the Constitution. He may be a Democrat, but on this issue, he’s acting like an American first. We need more of that in Washington.
