Looks like President Donald Trump and California Governor Gavin Newsom are battling one another once again.
This time, the battle is over midterm elections, which are not set to occur until much later in 2026.
That said, it would appear that both Trump and Newsom are laser focused on various seats perceived to be up for grabs by the time the midterm elections do occur.
Especially seats that might result from “redistricting” efforts.
According to a report from The Hill, Trump apparently believes that the newly developed redistricting efforts in Texas will assist with the Republicans further solidifying their power during the midterms.
In fact, Trump believes that such efforts may well pay off in multiple states, not just Texas alone.
“And there could be some other states we’re going to get another three, or four or five in addition. Texas would be the biggest one,” Trump mused.
Naturally, Newsom did not respond favorably to such an assertion. After all, the California “leader” has driven out countless Californians with his inane policies.
Heck, Newsom may well have unwittingly contributed to Texas gaining two electoral seats following the most recent U.S. Census … given that more than one Californian fled for the saner business environment of Texas.
With tech titan Elon Musk exemplifying one of the more prominent businesspeople that publicly quit California.
Thus, it is not surprising to see Gruesome Newsom’s resentment explode all over social media.
In a hostile post on X, Newsom made it abundantly clear that “two can play that game,” in apparent reference to the president’s explicit desire to influence the outcomes of current redistricting efforts in Texas.
“Trump said he’s going to steal 5 Congressional seats in Texas and gerrymander his way into a 2026 win,” Newsom began.
Well, the term “steal” was not used, but it is rather clear that he will use all influence possible to shift seats towards the GOP.
“Well, two can play that game,” Newsom continued, his hostility clearly mounting.
Is that so?
“Special sessions. Special elections. Ballot initiatives. New laws. It’s all on the table when democracy is on the line,” Newsom added pointedly.
So, in other words, the same actions undertaken by Trump, alongside Texas Governor Greg Abbott.
Got it.
The California governor also included a link to yet another podcast in which he further prattles on about Trump.
Ironically, Newsom’s rant took place on the “Pod Save America” podcast.
“I’m talking to members of my Legislature, whatever our alternatives, we could do a special session. I could call for one today, if I chose to, we could then put something on the ballot, and I could call a special election,” Newsom proclaimed during his podcast appearance.
Once again, the same move undertaken by Abbott – and the same move clearly supported by Trump.
Then Newsom actually launches into changing the Constitution.
“We can change the Constitution with the consent of the voters, and I think we would win that. I think people understand what’s at stake in California,” Newsom added.
Perhaps.
And would those “voters” include the multiple millions of illegals who remain present in the formerly Golden State? “Voters” who may well end up “voting” in the midterm elections as well?
Little wonder that Trump appears indifferent to any redistricting in Democrat states, in particular sanctuary states.
Then again, a long-term Clinton strategist claims that midterm elections may well not be held at all, at least not in the traditional sense.
So, if the strategist’s dire prediction is true after all, it would appear that two cannot play “that game” … at least not in the way Newsom currently envisions the game.
