If the Democrats are interested in winning major national elections in the near future, they might want to keep their apparently out-of-control infighting under control.
After all, even the most prominent media outlets cannot hide the worst Democrat infighting.
According to a scathing report from The Hill, the Democrats simply still do not have their act together … nearly a year after former President Joe Biden’s rather ill-advised debate with then-presidential candidate Donald Trump.
Frankly, the title of the article says it all – “Infighting Jeopardizes Hopes of Democratic Comeback.”
You don’t say!
“Intraparty fighting is threatening to stall the Democratic Party’s efforts to rebuild seven months after President Trump’s sweeping general election victory. The party has also been roiled by revelations and questions about the last months of former President Biden’s administration and whether he was in the midst of a cognitive decline,” The Hill began.
Well, fairly accurate, aside from the phrase “is threatening to stall” in the first sentence.
The first sentence could have easily been rewritten as “Intraparty fighting IS stalling the Democratic Party’s efforts to rebuild.”
Or “has altogether stalled.”
Both options seem quite feasible now!
“[The Democrats] also will have to contend with a number of high-profile primaries in the year ahead. And ousted Democratic National Committee Vice Chair David Hogg has been at the center of controversy, using his political group to challenge incumbent House Democrats,” The Hill added ominously, all but urging Democrats to get in line.
Well, quite frankly, what does the party expect?
On one hand, long-term Democrats, such as Senator Chuck Schumer and Senator John Fetterman, are actively attempting to work with Trump … meanwhile, other rabble rousers, notably Senator Bernie Sanders and so-called “Representative” Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, are spearheading “Fight Oligarchy” tours, fighting anything and everything that Trump attempts to achieve.
Even things that most Democrats – not to mention most Americans – have long been on board with!
Naturally, Sanders and AOC are all the more deplorable when considering their usage of private jets to said “Fight Oligarchy” rallies, but their donors apparently do not care.
Even more naturally, AOC has raged against any Democrat for daring to engage in any form of bipartisanship … while simultaneously ignoring the apparently braindead constituents that elected her in the first place.
And such deliberately displayed cognitive dissonance in a very public forum is bound to cost the Democrats quite handsomely in the future.
“History suggests Democrats have a chance to win back the House in next year’s midterm elections, since the president’s party usually uses seats in such cycles” The Hill mused, “but the multiple fractures for Democrats are a real risk.”
Well, no kidding.
The Hill also quoted Mike Nellis, who is best known as a Democratic strategist and a former senior adviser to Kamala Harris.
“The narrative right now is we’re a bunch of losers running around like chickens with our heads cut off and I don’t think that’s the case. We are a party out of power without a standard-bearer and that isn’t going to change until the presidential election,” Nellis fumed.
Well then. “Running around like chickens with [their] heads cut off,” huh?
Perhaps the most accurate description of swamp politics to date.
