“Your office must operate with a higher standard than that.”
Yikes! Looks like a Biden-backed judge has some serious bite when he’s ticked!
Indeed, according to a report from Politico, U.S. Magistrate Judge André M. Espinosa – who was appointed by former President Joe Biden in 2021 – is none too pleased with the current Department of Justice (DOJ) regarding the recent arrests of various rebellious Democrats.
Whose behavior was amply detailed in a press release.
“Today, as a bus of detainees was entering the security gate of Delaney Hall Detention Center, a group of protestors, including two members of the U.S. House of Representatives, stormed the gate and broke into the detention facility. Representatives Robert Menendez, Jr. and Bonnie Watson Coleman and multiple protestors are holed up in a guard shack, the first security check point,” the DHS irritably remarked in a press release.
Espinosa argued that information in the DHS release “suggests a worrisome misstep,” especially with the ostensibly “hasty arrest” of the Democrats.
As recently reported in the media, a few Democrats have found themselves running afoul of ICE authorities, apparently quadrupling down on their pro-illegal migrant position.
Espinosa delivered his incendiary comments while granting the reportedly “embarrassing retraction” of the misdemeanor trespassing charge that had been filed against Newark Mayor Ras Baraka for his wild behavior at an ICE detention facility.
However, Democrat Representative LaMonica McIver was not so lucky, as she reportedly assaulted ICE officials who were in the process of arresting Baraka.
“The members of Congress have said they were at the ICE facility exercising their oversight duties and were roughed up by federal agents. The government charged McIver with assault for actions she allegedly took while trying to shield Baraka from arrest,” Politico detailed.
Right.
DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin is clearly unmoved by the take of Politico, which is evident when she blasts the “bizarre political stunt” that clearly endangered the lives of law enforcement officers.
“Members of Congress storming into a detention facility goes beyond a bizarre political stunt and puts the safety of our law enforcement agents and detainees at risk. Members of Congress are not above the law and cannot illegally break into detention facilities. Had these members requested a tour, we would have facilitated a tour of the facility. This is an evolving situation,” McLaughlin asserted.
Is it ever.
And that situation may well evolve into jail time for McIver, who faces upwards of eight years in prison for each assault charge.
Will a conviction be forthcoming?
That remains to be seen, but it is safe to say that Dems may well be regretting their “get Trump” approach from the past.
