DEI Representative Rammed With Federal Charges Over ICE Facility Fiasco

Once again, it would appear that the Democrats routinely decline to consider the serious ramifications of their actions.

In particular actions related to thwarting federal efforts to remove illegally present migrants – in particular migrants of the violent variety – from the nation.

And such an effort most recently occurred at the Delaney Center in New Jersey, in which a group of protestors – including officially elected representatives – apparently decided that it would be a great idea to storm the ICE detention facility.

“Today, as a bus of detainees was entering the security gate of Delaney Hall Detention Center, a group of protestors, including two members of the U.S. House of Representatives, stormed the gate and broke into the detention facility. Representatives Robert Menendez, Jr. and Bonnie Watson Coleman and multiple protestors are holed up in a guard shack, the first security check point,” the DHS detailed in a press release.

So, in other words, public officials – living off of taxpayer dollars – are using their free time to disrupt taxpayer services, notably those provided by immigration authorities.

Little wonder that key DHS officials are rather disgusted.

Indeed, the press release also quoted Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin, who was clearly not amused by the fact that “members of Congress” apparently believe that storming an immigration facility is an acceptable approach.

“Members of Congress storming into a detention facility goes beyond a bizarre political stunt and puts the safety of our law enforcement agents and detainees at risk. Members of Congress are not above the law and cannot illegally break into detention facilities. Had these members requested a tour, we would have facilitated a tour of the facility. This is an evolving situation,” McLaughlin intoned ominously.

Is it ever.

And while Mayor Ras Baraka of Newark – an obvious DEI candidate – had federal charges dropped against him, a Congressional representative did not.

The representative – LaMonica McIver – was apparently even more violent in her self-expression than Baraka, which is precisely why she has found herself facing federal charges in the “evolving situation” detailed by McLaughlin.

The City of Newark issued a statement from Baraka on X, regarding the dismissal of the trespassing charge against him … as well as the federal charges brought against McIver.

“I am glad that the U.S. Attorney has agreed that this case should be dismissed. I have had strong relationships with prior U.S. Attorneys, and I plan to speak with the current U.S. Attorney about issues on which we can cooperate,” the statement declared.

How about cooperating on the removal of illegal migrants?

Indeed, that could certainly be a worthy form of cooperation to consider – one that has distinct advantages for protecting American lives in the long run.

However, in a rather predictable manner, the statement proceeded to blather on about the “humane treatment” of migrants, rather than Americans subjected to their antics.

“As to Delaney Hall, I will continue to advocate for the humane treatment of detainees, and I will continue to press the facility to ensure that it is compliant with City of Newark codes and regulations,” the statement continued self-righteously, before segueing into its rather predictable anger over the likely justified arrest of a DEI rep.

“I understand that the U.S. Attorney has chosen to charge Congresswoman LaMonica McIver with assaulting law enforcement,” the statement fumed.

Well, perhaps because she assaulted law enforcement?

This is not the BLM-driven summer of 2020 after all, no matter how forcibly Dems attempt to spin that.

Of course, the statement effectively implied that the arrest of McIver is unjustified because she is a “dear friend” of the DEI mayor.

“Congresswoman McIver is a daughter of Newark, past Newark Council President, and a former student of mine, and a dear friend,” the statement added.

Well, birds of a feather do indeed flock together. Looks like McIver learned a lot from Baraka’s “teaching.”

“I want to be clear: I am with LaMonica, and I fully expect her to be vindicated,” the statement concluded forcefully.

Or what?

What exactly will a sanctuary city mayor – who was openly thwarting ICE immigration proceedings – going to do?

Stage a riot?

Then he might find himself facing federal charges again … and not exactly in a position to make a convincing statement.
