If there is one thing that representatives full of rage can achieve, it’s still managing to grab headlines even during the absolute ugliest times.
Naturally, such a representative has typically already grabbed headlines for other bad behavior.
That’s why it’s rather unsurprising that Texas Representative Jasmine Crockett, perhaps most notorious for referring to Texas Governor Greg Abbott as “Hot Wheels,” has once again found herself in the news for all the wrong reasons.
According to a report from the New York Post, the “incendiary” Crockett apparently took things a step to far in an effort to “[make] the case for the country’s migrant population.” Naturally, Crockett predictably believes that the illegals have been “unfairly attacked.”
“Again they were able to divide us because any black person that knows their history should know at some point in time in history they looked at us and they acted as if we were less than, they acted as if we were some kind of aliens, they acted as if we had a higher proclivity to commit crimes, they acted as if we were incapable of learning … That’s what they did to us, so who are we to sit and say that we’re gonna do that to somebody else,” Crockett huffed.
Well, Representative Crockett, one important consideration has been overlooked: African slaves were forcibly relocated to the United States.
Illegal migrants have willingly come here.
That said, Crockett was not going to let those little facts get in the way of her narrative.
“So, I had to go around the country and educate people about what immigrants do for this country, or the fact we are a country of immigrants,” Crockett huffed.
Right.
“The fact is ain’t none of y’all trying to go and farm right now,” Crockett continued to rant.
Crockett’s angry remarks apparently resulted in “tepid laughs from congregants during the Grace Baptist Church’s 125th anniversary event” … which made her even angrier.
And, apparently, not terribly astute in her response.
“OK, I’m lying? You’re not, you’re not. We done picking cotton. We are. You can’t pay us enough to find a plantation,” Crockett roared.
“We done picking cotton?”
Well, then … Where to begin with that one?
Not only did Crockett effectively suggest that the real reason for mass migration is for de facto slave labor, but she also made a grossly inaccurate analogy in which she compares willingly illegal migrants to forcibly relocated slaves.
Safe to say that actual slaves never received freebies like illegals either, but Crockett wasn’t going to let that fact get in the way of her little narrative.
Most ironically, her “argument” in favor of illegal migrants was totally lost following her cotton-picking remarks …
And she once again made headlines for all the wrong reasons.
