“He was really working against her.”
So declared reporter Jonathan Allen with regards to former President Barack Obama’s efforts to undermine former presidential candidate Kamala Harris behind the scenes.
Allen, who is a co-author of FIGHT: Inside the Wildest Battle for the White House, provided intriguing insight into the intrigue behind the walls, specifically in terms of efforts to undermine Kamala Harris.
As detailed by the New York Post, Allen provides convincing insight regarding why “former President Barack Obama reportedly advocated against Democrats nominating Vice President Kamala Harris in the wake of President Joe Biden dropping out of the 2024 presidential election — because Obama didn’t think Harris could win.”
Indeed, Obama “reportedly argued for an open convention rather than anointing Harris as the nominee after Biden’s shocking drop-out, despite her having support from other Democrats.”
“President Obama absolutely did not think that Joe Biden should continue, according to our sources close to President Obama and he also didn’t want Kamala Harris to be the replacement for Biden,” Allen declared.
Well, no kidding. Obama was clever enough to see the writing on the wall.
“He didn’t think that she was the best choice for Democrats, and he worked really behind the scenes for a long time to try to have a mini-primary, or an open convention, or a mini-primary leading to an open convention. [He] did not have faith in her ability to win the election,” Allen continued.
Without a doubt. And other Democrats knew that as well.
“In one moment, he had set up a phone call with Congressman [James] Clyburn from South Carolina on the day that Joe Biden handed off the baton to Kamala Harris, and Obama had set up a call with Clyburn for like 5:30 that afternoon. And Clyburn thought to himself, this guy is going to try to rope me into the open convention thing, I better get my endorsement of Harris out there fast so this is a short conversation,” Allen recalled.
Yeah. Because political infighting is always a winning strategy for, well, winning.
That was sarcasm, obviously.
Anyway, it was not long before Obama hopped on the Kamala bandwagon with a “staged phone call” in which he pledged his endorsement.
“Earlier this week, Michelle and I called our friend @KamalaHarris. We told her we think she’ll make a fantastic President of the United States, and that she has our full support. At this critical moment for our country, we’re going to do everything we can to make sure she wins in November. We hope you’ll join us,” Obama tweeted, alongside the video of the call.
Looks like the staged call did not have its desired effect, as not only did Kamala not win, but she also lost in perhaps the most epic fashion ever.
That’s the real consequence of living in an ideological echo chamber – in particular an ideological echo chamber in a billionaire-encrusted cage.
