Looks like the attacks on Elon Musk have extended well beyond other Republican party members, the mainstream media, and, of course, Democrats.
Indeed, other billionaires are now openly countering Musk, in particular billionaires who have long been opposed to President Donald Trump.
Indeed, according to a report from Politico, Mark Cuban is taking direct aim at DOGE, ensuring that he obtains the most talented members of the federal workforce who may have been inadvertently let go.
Naturally, making Musk look moronic is clearly another objective of Cuban’s, as he is arguing broadly in favor of “cleaning up” the alleged mess left by the SpaceX CEO.
“Billionaire business mogul Mark Cuban is aiming to clean up after the Department of Government Efficiency. The longtime critic of Donald Trump is fielding business pitches from former and current federal staffers at the General Services Administration and White House to fill tech gaps that federal workforce layoffs have left,” Politico reported.
Well then. Little wonder that a “longtime critic” of Trump has decided to make an ample effort to undercut his approach to the government.
Or is he?
To an extent, Cuban is almost ironically approaching the federal government “like a business” as well, especially as he is openly espousing greater private-public sector.
“If you worked for 18F and got fired, Group together to start a consulting company. It’s just a matter of time before DOGE needs you to fix the mess they inevitably create. They will have to hire your company as a contractor to fix it. But on your terms. I’m happy to invest and/or help,” Cuban declared in a Bluesky post.
So, in other words, Cuban also agrees with running the country like a business … But he wants to be the one in charge, not Elon.
“If we can leverage the expertise and eliminate all the extra steps and the friction that had always been there, because that’s how government works, we can be the go-to for fixing the problems they created,” Cuban boomed.
Naturally, Trump is uninterested, as bluntly stated by White House spokesperson Harrison Fields.
“The Trump administration is not interested in what Mark Cuban has to say,” Fields remarked brusquely.
Well, there’s that.
In the meantime, Cuban is apparently intent to “out-Elon, Elon.”
“I think it’s possible to out-Elon, Elon, because the people he will bring in don’t know what they don’t know,” Cuban remarked smoothly.
Is that so?
Time remains to be seen … But at least the nation is finally talking about the importance of reducing government waste.
And that’s a real win.
