Back in 2019, the woke BBC blasted President Donald Trump for his alleged attempts to “restrict the spread of Spanish,” blasting Trump for daring to encourage all Americans to speak English.
“However, Mr. Trump’s demand has no legal basis: the US has no official language,” the BBC gloated at the time.
Well, eat your heart out, BBC, considering that Trump has rectified the nation’s “official language” status in his most pro-America executive order to date.
In perhaps one of his greatest executive orders to date, has undertaken an action that should have been undertaken quite some time ago – establishing an official language for the United States.
While it might seem to be a commonsense assumption that the national language of the nation is English, the reality is that the United States actually did not have an official national language – at least not until the passage of one of Trump’s most recent executive orders over the weekend.
The executive order – “Designating English as the Official Language of the United States” – provides detailed insight into precisely why English has long deserved to be the official language of the United States.
The order opens by detailing how English has been widely used since the “founding of our Republic,” which is especially evident in the nation’s historic governing documents: The Declaration of Independence and the Constitution have all been written in English.
“It is therefore long past time that English is declared as the official language of the United States,” the order continued, “a nationally designated language is at the core of a unified and cohesive society, and the United States is strengthened by a citizenry that can freely exchange ideas in one shared language.”
Without a doubt.
And, before liberals start screaming that such an executive order is racist and unwelcoming to supposed newcomers, it becomes abundantly clear that the executive order is designed to help legal newcomers assimilate more effectively to American society.
“Speaking English not only opens doors economically, but it helps newcomers engage in their communities, participate in national traditions, and give back to our society,” the order continued.
Yes. In other words, it gives newcomers a chance to fulfill the Founding Fathers’ dream of ideal immigrants, which would include those individuals who are willing to work hard and make a better life for themselves and their families.
“This order recognizes and celebrates the long tradition of multilingual American citizens who have learned English and passed it to their children for generations to come,” the order added.
Precisely. In other words, the order pays homage to legal immigrants who did things the right way. Imagine that …
“To promote unity, cultivate a shared American culture for all citizens, ensure consistency in government operations, and create a pathway to civic engagement, it is in America’s best interest for the Federal Government to designate one – and only one – official language,” the order added.
About darn time. May these supremely patriotic executive orders continue …
