“The Gulf of America. What a beautiful name.”
So declared President Donald Trump as he ruminated on the possibility of renaming the Gulf of Mexico.
Naturally, the mainstream media had a major conniption fit, which was to be expected.
However, what was rather unexpected was the sudden, albeit questionable, support that Trump received from a long-term Democrat.
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, who has publicly sparred with Trump on more than one occasion, is one of the few Democrats that appears to have a look at reality every now and then.
During a recent appearance on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Schumer offered a surprisingly sensible assessment regarding the Democrats’ epic election loss.
“It’s the economy stupid,” Schumer blandly remarked.
No kidding.
Which is why Comrade Kamala’s shameless squandering over well over $1.5B is all the more outrageous.
“I told my caucus, and I’ll say it here, too… certainly it was a loss, but it’s also a challenge,” Schumer added.
Yeah. A challenge to get one’s act together, or continue fading into deep oblivion.
“We did some things wrong, and we have to look in the mirror and see what we did wrong,” Schumer continued.
Amazing! Democrats begin to discuss accountability!
Granted, it took an electoral shellacking to do so, but it is refreshing, and certainly more civil, to hear a sense of ownership over the partisan state of affairs.
“There are some things we didn’t do that we should have done,” Schumer noted forcefully.
By all means, continue.
“What we’re going to do is spend time talking to working families, showing them how much we care for them. And not just talk about legislation, but talk about the conditions that have made so many working families worried about their futures,” Schumer declared.
Indeed. It is a great shame that American families appear to have fallen by the wayside.
And, in an apparent effort to show his willingness to work with the man millions of American families support, Schumer offered surprising, albeit cagey, support for Trump’s “Gulf of America” plan.
“Donald Trump is in over his head. So he’s doing what he always does in times like this, distract America with crazy ideas. Renaming the Gulf of Mexico may be a zany new idea, but it isn’t going to help people save money at the grocery store,” Schumer mused.
Fair point.
Though “zany” is far more preferable than “scary,” which is what the state of affairs would be now if Comrade Kamala were in power.
“If Donald Trump wants to rename a gulf to sound more patriotic, I’d say we will help him on one condition and only one condition: let’s come up with a real plan first – not a concept of a plan – to lower prices for Americans,” Schumer added.
Well then.
That’s a level of support that was completely unexpected, yet also deeply appreciated amid longstanding partisan chaos.
Either that, or Schumer is desperate to clean up his image following his disturbing insistence upon Biden’s supposed mental alacrity.
As recalled by Fox News, Schumer was singing Biden’s praises as recently as February 13, 2024.
“[Biden’s] is mental acuity is great. It’s fine. It’s as good as it’s been over the years. All this right-wing propaganda that his mental acuity has declined is wrong,” Schumer blared.
Is that so?
Seems that Schumer has attained enough “mental acuity” to know when to step up and support Trump, even if he has to throw some jabs in while doing so.
