Looks like another Trump may be gunning to make the Senate great again, judging from some of the most recent, encouraging media reports.
As reported by the Daily Mail, Trump has nominated Marco Rubio to serve as Secretary of State, arguably one of his most stellar choices to date.
Rubio is certainly happy with the responsibility, as evident in his statement of gratitude.
“Leading the U.S. Department of State is a tremendous responsibility, and I am honored by the trust President Trump has placed in me. I will work every day to carry out his foreign policy agenda,” Rubio asserted.
That said, since Rubio serves in the Senate, representing Florida, his seat will need to be filled by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
And quite a few people are in favor of that seat being filled by none other than Lara Trump: An exclusive J.L. Partners poll for DailyMail.com shows that 59 percent of Republicans support her elevation to the Senate.
Moreover, 36 percent “strongly support” versus 10 percent who “oppose” placing Trump in the Senate.
To James Johnson, the co-founder of J.L. Partners, such a placement is quite logical, given voter sentiment.
“Republican voters are with the Trumps and they believe Lara Trump should be the Senate replacement in Florida. Looking at these data, there is little to no chance of a backlash amongst the voters,” Johnson asserted.
Without a doubt.
And it’s not just the voters that support Lara Trump: It’s real Republicans as well.
Including long-time senator and former Florida Governor Rick Scott.
“We need more Republicans in Washington who actually represent the Republican Party back home and will be steadfast in their commitment to fulfill the mandate from this election – to Make America Great Again. @LaraLeaTrump is that person,” Scott asserted on X.
Lara Trump herself is quite honored by the possibility, which she has made clear on several occasions.
“Likewise, if I am able to serve, I would love to serve the people of Florida. This is my home state now, and has been for three years. This is where Eric and I live, and truly to have that opportunity, I think would be incredible,” Lara Trump declared.
Would it ever. Especially given the weight that the Senate holds in passing key laws and legislation.
“If this is something I am asked to do, I would seriously consider it, but I have yet to hear from Gov. DeSantis. So we’ll see what happens,” Lara Trump added.
It will be intriguing to see what DeSantis elects to do … as well as to see what direction Lara Trump’s political career may take.
