“The Biden-Harris administration has ‘effectively turned the Southwest Border into a meaningless line in the sand and little more than a speedbump for aliens flooding into the country.’”
So declared a brilliant lawsuit just filed by none other than the home state of top presidential candidate Donald J. Trump and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
Brilliant timing, really, especially considering “Special Counsel” Jack Smith’s latest witch hunt against Trump.
However, unlike Smith’s endless witch hunts, DeSantis’s lawsuit actually has a point.
As reported first by Fox News Digital, the DHS is required to address any query from state or local governments that seek to verify the immigration status of any individual in their jurisdiction, for purposes authorized by law.
And Florida sought to verify the status of several individuals, broadly believed to be noncitizens, on its voter rolls.
Apparently, the DHS has refused to play ball, despite the DHS and Florida agreeing on verifying the citizenship status of various individuals through the Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements (SAVE) program
However, Florida officials were apparently unable to use the SAVE program for such critical validation of suspected noncitizens.
Florida also attempted to work with other federal agencies, notably the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) to request the verification of suspected noncitizens. However, Florida was brutally rebuffed there as well.
“Florida has identified a subset of individuals for whom it cannot verify citizenship or immigration status through SAVE and for whom DHS refuses to verify citizenship or immigration status through other means,” the lawsuit detailed.
Surprise, surprise!
“Because the federal government is refusing to comply with these obligations and frustrating Florida’s ability to maintain the integrity of its elections, Florida files this suit,” the lawsuit noted.
As it should, given that the state “has an obligation to maintain accurate and current voter registration records” lawsuit.
Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody also underscored the importance of ensuring the integrity of the election in a statement to Fox News Digital.
“Voting is a right granted to American citizens – not illegal immigrants or other noncitizens. The Biden-Harris administration has allowed millions of illegal immigrants into the country, and we must ensure that only citizens are on our voter rolls …
I am taking legal action against the Department of Homeland Security and Secretary Mayorkas to ensure Florida is able to maintain the integrity of our state’s voter rolls,” Moody proclaimed.
Cord Byrd, who serves as Florida Secretary of State, also concurs with Moody.
“The Florida Constitution is clear that only citizens can vote in our elections. Florida is calling on the federal government to dismantle the barriers blocking the states from obtaining critical information needed to prevent non-citizens from voting in our elections … We are going to prevail in our effort to uphold the law and uphold the Constitution’s guarantee of one citizen, one vote,” Byrd proclaimed.
Seriously.
It’s really quite outrageous that the federal government is going gung-ho for noncitizens’ presence on the voter rolls …
Especially when it’s simultaneously suing states who dare to remove noncitizens.
Little wonder that the Southern Border has become little more than a “speed bump” for marauding illegals.
