Feckless FCC Approves $400M+ Media Takeover Backed By Soros

While the swamp has been especially sloppy in covering up the degree to which foreign powers influence its operations, some federal agencies are remarkably sloppier than others.

Including the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), which astonishingly let none other than an anarchist billionaire blatantly violate laws against foreign media ownership.

Apparently, none other than George Soros is now the largest shareholder in Audacy, which just happens to own the second-largest number of radio stations in the United States.

And, despite the fact that Soros is a foreigner, and clear laws are in place against this type of malign influence, it appears that the anarchist billionaire has blitzed right on by those tedious considerations and straight to the Democrats’ approval of his singlehanded ownership of multiple radio stations.

Including those that are spearheaded by conservative thinkers.

Who wants to bet that Soros will hardly respect editorial independence in his savage takeover, right before the election?

Little wonder that varied groups are currently raising the alarm on such a brazen takeover.

In a petition to the FCC, the Media Research Center (MRC) made it rather clear that they are dismayed by Soros’s obviously malign influence on foreign elections.

“MRC files this petition to deny because, just months ago, the Soros Fund Management, a firm founded by activist and billionaire George Soros, took steps to become the largest shareholder in Audacy, which owns the second largest number of broadcast radio stations in the country,” MRC noted.

Frankly, Audacy could be the twentieth-largest owner, and Soros’s ownership would still be a huge issue.

That said, the fact that Soros will apparently control hundreds of radio stations is distressing, to say the least.

“There is no question that George Soros and his affiliated businesses are looking to control these radio stations to advance their particular brand of activism,” MRC added.

Of course they are.

And his “particular brand of activism” is well known to be “sin fronteras,” or “without borders.”

Hence the chaos at the US border now.

“The Soros group expressly states in their FCC filing that they have determined that the aggregate level of foreign ownership in the company when it emerges from bankruptcy will exceed the 25 percent limit specified in Section 310(b)(4) of the Communications Act due to the various entities that it expects to hold voting or equity interests,” the MRC added.

So, in other words, Soros is shamelessly violating foreign ownership laws the same way that he violates immigration laws via his “open borders.”

Though of course, Soros is exploiting a supposed “public interest” clause that would permit foreigners to own more than 25 percent of a given media company if such ownership is deemed good for the public.

Something else that MRC was sure to call out.

“MRC files this petition to deny because the Communications Act of 1934 provides that the FCC cannot approve assignment applications like these unless the Commission first determines that granting them would serve the public interest,” the group continued.

Alas, the Democrat-heavy FCC voted in favor of a rapid Soros takeover anyway.

Go figure.

FCC Commissioner Brendan Carr is quite disgruntled, that’s for sure.

Carr, a Republican, made his position very clear in remarks to Glenn Beck with Blaze Media.

“I’ve been very outspoken on this particular issue for the reasons that you talked about. We have a very clear process at the FCC that we set up – it could take six months, it could take a year – to go through to [the national security] review the foreign ownership at issue here. But for reasons that are not sort of plain to me, the FCC … for the very first time ever, has skipped that process for the benefit of this Soros-backed group,” Carr declared.

Heck, Blaze Media itself has every reason to be concerned.

After all, quite a few conservative hosts may find themselves under the sphere of Soros, thanks to the FCC.

“Leftist billionaire and Democratic mega-donor George Soros has been leaning on the Democrat-controlled Federal Communications Commission for months in hopes of fast-tracking his group’s acquisition of over 200 radio stations in over 40 markets – including stations that run shows from Glenn Beck, Mark Levin, Erick Erickson, Sean Hannity, and Dana Loesch,” the media outlet reported.

Is it any wonder that Soros just “happened” to take over Audacy, in light of this information?
