“Most importantly, if you have an extra room or suite in your home, please consider hosting a family.”
Those rather infamous words were spoken last year by Lieutenant Governor Kim Driscoll of Massachusetts.
While New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, and the like bear the dubious distinction of being so-called “sanctuary cities,” Massachusetts has upped the level of disregard for federal immigration law by being a de facto sanctuary state.
Indeed, Massachusetts is the only state in the nation with a “right to shelter” law, which is bizarrely applied to illegals from all over the planet.
Naturally, that means that Massachusetts rapidly ran out of shelters and began to pressure taxpaying residents to take illegal migrants into their home instead.
Unvetted illegals, mind you.
Needless to say, since Massachusetts has yet to invoke something a policy similar to eminent domain, it seems that not too many residents, as liberal as they clearly are, were keen on taking illegals into their homes.
Which would explain why the executive leaders of Massachusetts are currently trying – and likely failing – to stem the flow of illegal migration.
According to a report from The Blaze, Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey is insisting that no more room is available.
“I want to be clear, particularly to people outside of Massachusetts who may have gotten word that this is a place to come, that we do not have room here in Massachusetts,” Healey brayed.
You don’t say. Massachusetts is hardly the largest state in the world, and it’s rather obvious that illegals could care less about the availability of resources when surging across the border for their Biden-bestowed freebies.
Now, Healey is apparently bribing illegals with “free” plane tickets to leave, further magnifying the tax expense of Biden’s disastrous border policies.
“We’ve also offered them the alternative path that they may wish to go to family members or ones they know elsewhere, communities elsewhere in the country, and I think that is a humane and appropriate thing to do,” Healey added.
Well, how about that?
Perhaps discourage illegal migration in the first place … starting with not providing illegals with three hot catered meals daily.
One thing is for certain: Healey’s “welcoming” attitude to illegal migrants is obviously encountering the same issues that countless other woke mayors, governors, and other politicians have come across in their quest to fulfill all (ever changing) woke objectives.
In remarks to The Blaze, Paul Craney of the Massachusetts Fiscal Alliance made it abundantly clear that Healey is long overdue in her attempt to resolve serious issues with illegal migration.
“These are exactly the type of reforms that people have been asking her to make for months. That it took her this long to get to this point boggles the mind and points to a serious disconnect between Governor Healey and the actual conditions on the ground in Massachusetts,” Craney declared.
Well, it is an election year. If it wasn’t, Healey would, in all likelihood, do little.
After all, her home isn’t being opened up to illegals.
“For the past months, the conversation has been all about the need to amend the state’s right-to-shelter law. The fact that Governor Healey has felt she’s had the power to unilaterally make these changes this whole time and chose to do nothing points to a serious lack of judgment on her part and should be investigated by the legislature,” Craney added.
“Serious lack of judgment.”
Seems to be the only constant in the deranged Democrat party these days.
All the more reason they must be resoundingly voted out in November … and in all future elections, until they decide to actually represent the United States and its citizens.
