“It’s up to the president to decide if he is going to run. We’re all encouraging him to make that decision. Because time is running short.”
So declared none other than 84-year-old Nancy Pelosi, who is apparently one of the latest Democrats to deflate Biden’s defiant presidential ambitions.
And, in doing so, Pelosi has set off a storm of speculation that she, along with Obama and others, are making moves to replace Biden on the Democrat presidential ticket.
As reported by Fox News, ABC News reporter Rachel Scott apparently committed the cardinal sin of asking Pelosi to clarify her remarks, which obviously suggested that the former House Speaker would be A-OK with Biden stepping aside.
Upon seeing Pelosi in the hallways of Congress after her rather lukewarm commentary on Biden’s presidency, Scott hastened to the former House Speaker, eager to learn more about the sudden move against Biden.
Naturally, Scott inquired if Pelosi had spoken to Biden since effectively betraying him.
Needless to say, Pelosi did not handle Scott’s inquiries very well.
“I’m not having any discussions with you, or anyone else, about what I talk to the president about, with all due respect … I’m not going to be making any comments today, in the hallway, about the fate of our nation, OK?” Pelosi declared.
A nonplussed Scott continued to press Pelosi, inquiring, “Are you concerned whether or not he can win in November?”
While Pelosi acknowledged that she believes “he can win,” she became quite angry when Scott asked her to further clarify whether or not Biden “should run for re-election.”
“I’m not … Am I speaking English to you? I’m not going to be making any statements about any of that right now in the hallway,” Pelosi raged.
To further demonstrate her supposed allegiance to Biden, Pelosi had her own spokesperson issue remarks following her disastrous encounter with Scott.
“Publicly and privately, Speaker Pelosi has acknowledged the concerns that many have expressed in recent days but has repeatedly said that she fully supports whatever President Biden decides to do,” a Pelosi spokesperson declared.
Pelosi herself also continued to deflect from her obvious, if indirect, assault on Biden’s campaign in a conversation with Jalaa Brown of CBS.
“There are some misrepresentations of what I have said,” Pelosi huffed, “I never said he should reconsider his decision.”
Is that so? Because even the ultra-leftist media appears to feel differently, Ms. Pelosi.
For instance, consider this headline on the official webpage of the Washington Post: “Pelosi opens the door, subtly, to replacing Biden.”
Politico is even more blunt with its own headline: “What Obama and Pelosi are doing about Biden.”
As it turns out, quite a bit.
“Two of the Democratic Party’s most powerful and popular personalities have assumed quiet, behind-the scenes roles as elements of the party maneuver to push President Joe Biden out of his faltering reelection bid,” Politico reported.
Indeed, they are. In fact, Politico even stated that Pelosi herself “has been engaged in some more active maneuverings” relative to Obama.
“Active,” huh? That will surely play out well with “Dr.” Jill Biden.
Especially as Politico further underscored the role that Pelosi is playing behind the scenes, in addition to her public commentary.
“In private conversations with lawmakers, we’re told, the former speaker hasn’t tried to hide her disdain for the situation that party now finds itself in. She’s suggested to people that Biden won’t win this November and should step aside, according to about a half-dozen lawmakers and others who have spoken with her or are familiar with these conversations,” Politico added.
Well then. Seems the Dems are engaging in the “circular firing squad” that Obama had previously warned against … until he joined it himself.
