Once Dems start spending, they just can’t stop.
Especially when it comes to coddling their future voting base – illegal migrants.
Indeed, quite a few conservatives suspected that something was deeply afoot in February 2024, when New York City Mayor Eric Adams proclaimed that he would be handing out prepaid cash debit cards to illegal migrants … allegedly for them to have “culturally relevant” food items.
Hilariously, Adams claims that such an asinine scheme will save money.
“People want to give the impression that we did this in the cloak of secrecy, that we’re not saving money, that’s just inaccurate …
I know on the first brush you look at it and say, ‘wait a minute, what are you doing, you’re giving people cards? This was a small policy shift that we’re doing on a pilot project with 500 people. If this is successful, we’re going to expand it even more,” Adams brayed.
Well, that’s one promise that a Democrat has managed to keep.
Because Adams has gone from providing several hundred illegal migrants with prepaid debit cards to several thousand.
According to a recent report from the New York Times, Adams has indeed opted to expand an ill-begotten program “even more.”
“New York City officials are significantly expanding a contentious program that distributes debit cards to migrant families staying in city-funded hotels, allowing them to buy their own food as the city tries to reduce the costs of caring for migrants.
The debit cards are expected to be distributed to more than 7,300 migrants over the next six months at a cost of about $2.6 million, city officials said, building from a pilot program that began earlier this year with roughly 900 families, or nearly 3,000 migrants,” the propaganda outlet declared.
Well, that will surely encourage illegals to stop flooding to New York City … Not.
Is Adams for real?
The New York Times also quoted illegal migrants who effectively complained about the free food they’ve received to date.
One woman asserted that her son apparently dislikes all the food received to date, despite the fact she individually receives $170 per week to buy whatever she wants.
“He hasn’t gotten used to the food here; he only eats fruits and some carbohydrates and vegetables,” the illegal migrant asserted.
Predictably, the illegal migrant is “unemployed,” yet claims they will eventually obtain employment and allegedly rent their own apartment … in a city wherein rents routinely soar to $5,000+ monthly.
Must be nice to live in one of the world’s most expensive cities without paying a dime … or without even attempting to assimilate.
Thus, even more predictably, the illegal migrant didn’t bother to speak in English when complaining to the New York Times.
Perhaps one of the worst elements of the entire scheme is the fact that an Adams supporter – the founder of MoCaFi – is a major beneficiary of the grifting scheme.
“We’ve been looking at this product, MoCaFi, and this concept for close to three years now … This is not something that just popped up last year,” Adams insisted.
Well, no kidding, Mr. Adams.
In fact, per a searing report in the New York Post, otherwise known as the media outlet widely censored for daring to report on Hunter Biden’s antics, Adams is engaged in rather shameless grifting, given that MoCaFi has declared its allegiance to the deranged Democrat.
“The city inked a no-bid, one-year deal with MoCaFi, a company co-founded by an Adams supporter, to distribute a potentially open-ended amount of money – ‘above $150 million’ – to migrants staying at city hotels …
As it stands, MoCaFi remains the main beneficiary of a potentially massive new city-paid benefits program that is likely to persist as long as the migrant crisis does,” the Post reported.
Meanwhile, while Adams and his “supporters” grift millions and individual migrants grift thousands, U.S. citizen taxpayers residing in New York remain the only group that doesn’t “benefit” at all.
In fact, they’re 100% responsible for funding all the fraud gleefully perpetuated by Adams, alongside other Democrats addicted to spending.
At least at this point in time, New Yorkers are responsible for the mess they willfully voted in … though that may all change if Adams, alongside other sanctuary city leaders, succeeds in obtaining federal FEMA funds for dealing with a wholly preventable crisis.
Then all Americans will be on the hook for ridiculous debit card schemes … which is no doubt the Dems’ end game.
