While open prejudice against white individuals may be freely exhibited by “progressive” politicians, it appears that the same level of prejudice is hardly welcome in the court system.
One ultra-woke corporation learned that inconvenient fact the hard way, namely Starbucks.
Starbucks, well known for employing individuals who tend to be virulently anti-police, was just hit with a major fine from a lawsuit alleging the company’s openly anti-white prejudice when it decided to fire a regional manager over two apparent hoodlums.
“A Starbucks regional manager won a $25.6 million verdict Friday after she accused the corporation of firing her for being White in response to a national backlash over the arrest of two Black men at one of its Philadelphia cafes …
A New Jersey federal jury decided in favor of Shannon Phillips, who sued Starbucks in 2019 over allegations of racial bias and discrimination, according to court filings,” the media outlet detailed.
Originally, two men came and sat down in Starbucks with zero intentions of buying or paying for anything, though they were clearly looking for a “viral” incident in the making to film.
The men refused to leave their seats while simultaneously still refusing to pay to eat or drink anything. When the police arrived, the incident became a national melodrama, and woke Starbucks thought it was a great idea to close 8,000 stores so that employees could attend “racial bias” training.
And a regional manager, who wasn’t even present in the store, was fired due to the fact that the two men who refused to leave were black; she was white; and, apparently, she was “guilty” from the skin color she was born with alone.
Thus, Ms. Phillips ended up suing the company for wrongful, race-based dismissal, and she won.
Pitiably, even now, Starbucks is still doubling down on its ghastly policy of defending potential criminals over hardworking employees.
“A peacetime leader is very different from a wartime leader. These were turbulent times. Starbucks needed someone to show strength and resolution,” Starbucks attorney Richard Harris whined.
A “wartime” leader? Is he serious? Since when is “war” required to tell vagrants or hoodlums to leave? Why aren’t other customers (who purchase things) protected in the same way?
Needless to say, varied commenters saw the entire situation a bit differently than the woke attorney for Starbucks did.
“This is a watershed moment. A jury has agreed that anti-White racism is real and that Whites deserve equal treatment under the law,” one individual proclaimed.
Amen!
Indeed, the entire episode brings to mind a Chipotle manager fired for “racism” for a similar “viral video” incident, when in reality, the manager was trying to prevent (more theft.
Even CNN cited the Chipotle incident as one in which “the internet mob” falsely labeled the Chipotle manager as racist, when in reality she was attempting to defend her store from thieves, though that was also back in 2019.
Hard to say if CNN would bother speaking such truths now.
