Fake News Flips Out On Facebook

Looks like the fake news media is flipping out on Facebook yet again, in spite of the fact they are clearly heavily dependent on social media to create their “news” stories.

After all, most leftist news revolves around whatever BLM/Antifa-influenced nonsense percolating across varied social media platforms.

The same news outlets also loved it when social media giants unwisely censored a former president, one who was truly democratically elected, which should sound alarm bells to everyone who has any respect whatsoever for the first amendment.

However, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg is finally taking a cue from Twitter CEO Elon Musk’s playbook, chiefly by permitting former President Donald Trump to return to the social media platform.

Nick Clegg, President of Facebook’s Global Affairs, made his announcement regarding the controversial decision crisp and clear.

“We will be reinstating Mr. Trump’s Facebook and Instagram accounts in the coming weeks,” Clegg announced in a matter-of-fact manner.

The decision was met with mixed results, the vast majority of which were highly negative.

Just consider the following melodrama published as “journalism” in the wake of Facebook’s decision, which continued in earnest over the weekend.

In an article published by The Atlantic, hilariously titled “The Incoherence of Facebook’s Trump Decision,” a clearly leftwing writer flipped out over the thought of Trump having the ability to (gasp!) exercise his freedom of speech, just like anyone else.

“Why would Meta do this? The company seems to understand that Trump’s attacks undermine democracy and can destabilize the country,” the “journalist” raged.

Hear that, everyone? Apparently, the failure to censor a former world leader could destabilize the country, per this asinine leftist.

On its part, The Guardian claimed that Clegg was “once a great hope for liberal politics in Britain,” but Clegg’s apparent support of Trump rejoining Facebook allegedly reveals

“the breathtaking hypocrisy of a corporation seemingly unable – or unwilling – to learn from its complicity in repeated political disasters.”

Never mind the “breathtaking hypocrisy” of censoring a democratically elected world leader, in direct contradiction of the First Amendment.

Especially when actual despots use social media!

Perhaps the most melodramatic of all was MSNBC, which actually was written in the first-person plural, underscoring the lemming-like mentality of the left.

“We knew it was likely coming, but it still feels unsettling that former President Donald Trump will soon regain access to his Facebook and Instagram accounts,” MSNBC ranted and raved, hilariously adding that “there’s a lot of wiggle room for Trump to make a lot of money based on outright lies.”

That’s funny, because that’s precisely what BLM figured out … and precisely why they were so insanely greedy and incompetent that even California shut down their fundraising.

Yet those lies proliferated across social media. Not to mention calls to violence … but to be fair, Democrats issue direct calls for violence as well, in particular the Chicago mayor.

Little wonder Chicago remains in a state of violence.

Despite the media freaking out, some surprising support did emerge from more “progressive” camps.

One such camp includes the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), widely known for being one of the most “progressive” organizations in the nation.

However, as detailed by Executive Director Anthony Romero, Trump, like it or not, has an absolute right to be on the platform.

“Like it or not, President Trump is one of the country’s leading political figures and the public has a strong interest in hearing his speech,” Romero declared.

Of course, Romero had to add in a little dig suggesting that Trump is a criminal.

“Indeed, some of Trump’s most offensive social media posts ended up being critical evidence in lawsuits filed against him and his administration,” Romero added pointedly.

Right. The same could be said about a number of other so-called representatives online.

However, at least Romero clearly values liberty enough to see the complete insanity in banning Trump in the first place.

The same cannot be said for other media groups, which had a decidedly more hysterical reaction to the reinstatement of Trump.

Media Matters president Angelo Carusone, for instance, immediately began to rant and rave about how Facebook is apparently “fueling” the “misinformation engine” of Trump.

“Make no mistake – by allowing Donald Trump back on its platforms, Meta is refueling Trump’s misinformation and extremism engine,” he raged.

Carusone did not specify the type of misinformation Trump allegedly spews, but he did continue to rant in rave in terms of generalities.

“This not only will have an impact on Instagram and Facebook users, but it also presents intensified threats to civil society and an existential threat to United States democracy as a whole,” he continued, rampaging away about the apparent evils of permitting Trump to resume his presence on social media.

Curiously, Carusone does not seem nearly as passionate about bonafide dictators continuing to use American social media platforms.

Despite being vindicated, Trump made it clear that social media executives made a terrible decision when banning him in the first place.

“Such a thing should never again happen to a sitting President, or anybody else who is not deserving of retribution!” Trump proclaimed.

Amen!

And, with any luck, Trump might, just might, return in 2024 … as he is needed more than ever.
