The mass riots that emerged in 2020 and formed a cornerstone of Democrat campaign strategies are still wreaking havoc upon cities with the most woke of woke politicians.
Portland, Oregon is a sterling example of Wokeville gone amok, especially as “protest tourism” is apparently a thing … Protests have become some commonplace and absurd across the West Coast city that some tourists apparently ogle Antifa, BLM, and/or other extremist organization hassling varied individuals and businesses.
Unfortunately, the violent atmosphere that has ensued has directly influenced crime rates across the city.
Per FBI data, violent crime in Portland has increased by 38 percent from 2020 to 2021, far outpacing other areas of the country.
Vandalism and car theft are also on the rise, much to the dismay of individuals and businesses alike, especially given the extended wait times for police to arrive.

As detailed by Fox News, average police response times to high-priority calls were under 10 minutes in 2016, yet they increased to well over 20 minutes by 2022.
The 2022 increase is all the more significant when considering that 2021 witnessed average police response times of 14 minutes.
Apparently, “Defund Police” has continued to hamper the ability of law enforcement in Portland to serve and protect.
Which is precisely why yet another business, this time Rains PDX, is shuttering its operation in Portland.
The small business left no mystery as to why, as evidenced from the scathing note left behind.
“Our city is in peril … Small businesses (and large) cannot sustain doing business in our city’s current state,” the letter states.
The zero-bail policy is not sustainable either in terms of having a remotely safe society, but all representatives, aside from apparently Pelosi, tend to live in heavily secured compounds.
However, the Democrats’ empowerment of criminals comes at the real cost of stifling small businesses, much in the same way draconian COVID policies did.
Crime, however, has neither vaccine nor end date, though Democrats are clearly trying their best to drag out pandemic paranoia for as long as possible.
“We have no protection, or recourse, against the criminal behavior that goes unpunished. Do not be fooled into thinking that insurance companies cover losses. We have sustained 15 break-ins … we have not received any financial reimbursement since the 3rd,” the letter continued.
Well, reimbursement does come from taxpayer funds, and if enough taxpayers leave Portland, as well as Oregon generally, and if the freeloaders continue to multiply … Well, one does not need to be a mathematician to see where that goes.
Unfortunately, the woke governor, Kate Brown, thought it was a good idea for students in Oregon to graduate from high school without having to know basic math, as evidenced by the passage of Senate Bill 744, which would explain a lot.
Rains PDX owner Marcy Landolfo also informed KATU-TV that doing business in Portland is simply not sustainable, especially when thievery goes unpunished.
“The products that are being targeted are the very expensive winter products, and I just felt like the minute I get those in the store, they’re going to get stolen,” Landolfo lamented, “it’s just too much with the losses that are not covered by insurance, the damages, everything. It’s just not sustainable.”
And, as Landolfo notes, the problem is hardly unique to his business: It is an issue for virtually all small businesses..
“The problem is, as small businesses, we cannot sustain those types of losses and stay in business. I won’t even go into the numbers of how much has been out of pocket,” he continued.
The city’s response has been lackluster at best, apparently offering to pay for the broken glass that businesses suffer to their storefronts from various crime waves.
Landolfo, however, is not overtly impressed.
“Paying for glass – that’s great, but that is so surface and does nothing for the root cause of the problem, so it’s never going to change,” he drawled.
“Root cause.” Kind of like the “root causes” at the border Kamala refuses to deal with.
Strange, how the “root causes” of both the border and crime remain unaddressed.
Almost as if the Democrats want a city laden with chaos …
