Clyburn Blares About “Biblical” Congress

Democrats are well known for their grandiose self-aggrandizement, but the remarkable commentary from House Democrat Whip Jim Clyburn of South Carolina really takes the cake.

During an appearance on CBS’s “Face the Nation,” Clyburn provided alleged justification for why he would continue on in his “leadership,” diverging from Nancy Pelosi, who has opted to step back from power in the wake of a narrow loss of the House.

Astonishingly, Clyburn actually claimed that his presence in Congress is “biblical.”

“I’ve always said there is a healthy respect – it’s biblical with me – we need to have a healthy blend of strength and knowledge,” Clyburn intoned.

Well then. “Biblical” is certainly an adjective not oftentimes referenced by Democrats, for numerous reasons.

Starting with their strong opposition to any integration of religion and state, which is precisely why they have skewered so many conservatives for being forthright about their faith.

In addition to his tenure in Congress apparently being “biblical” in purpose, Clyburn proceeded on to declare that “the South” would not have adequate leadership if he were to step aside.

“And look at leadership: the South is left out of it. And what I’m doing is trying to make sure that we do not tilt too far to the east or too far to the west, but maintain what we have here. There is no other southerner among the leadership, and we need the South,” Clyburn continued.

Well, “the South” is certainly more red than blue, though Democrats are trying their best to change Georgia and Texas.

Florida, at least with Governor DeSantis, seems safe for now.

Clyburn, however, is clearly fixated on one-party rule, which is evident when he muses about majorities in 2024.

“As we Democrats set about the work of retaking the majority in 2024 and re-electing our President, I humbly ask for your support to remain at the leadership table as the Assistant Democratic Leader, to work alongside our new generation of Democratic leaders which I hope to be Hakeem Jeffries, Katherine Clark, and Pete Aguilar,” Clyburn brayed.

Humbly. Right.

It is unfortunate Clyburn was not as concerned with being demure right before the midterm elections, especially as he likened conservatives to Nazis.

“This country is on track to repeat what happened in Germany when it was the greatest democracy going, when it elected a chancellor that then co-opted the media. This past president called the press the enemy of the people. That is a bunch of crap. And that is what’s going on in this country,” Clyburn warned.

Way to alienate half the country, Clyburn. Competing with Biden in terms of divisiveness?

“The question is … are we going to have a society that everyone can participate in? Or are we going to have an autocracy?” Clyburn dramatically inquired in another highly publicized stunt, right before the midterms.

The question should be … Are politicians going to remain perpetually corrupt?

Clyburn may have motivations aside from “biblical” and regional reasons … He may also have financial motivations.

As reported by Fox News, Clyburn certainly doesn’t mind enriching family members with campaign funds.

“House Majority Whip James Clyburn continued paying his relatives tens of thousands of dollars from his campaign funds, adding to the more than $220,000 the congressman previously paid his family in recent years,” the outlet reported.

Well. That fact might explain why Clyburn is electing to pursue leadership, time after time …
