Texas Governor Greg Abbott has had it with the Biden administration’s continued evasion of its responsibility to protect the nation’s borders, which is precisely why he has taken matters into his own hands.
On Twitter, Abbott proclaimed that he had “invoked the Invasion Clauses of the U.S. & Texas Constitutions to fully authorize Texas to take unprecedented measures to defend our state against an invasion.”
In other words, Texas has been under siege for the entire duration of Biden’s presidency, largely due to the fact that the White House appears to care less about the pain inflicted on border states.
In addition to his bald declaration on Twitter, Abbott also provided extensive insight into his reasoning to Biden in a rather pointed letter.
“Texans are paying the price for your failure’ at the border and the Democrat’s policies have led to ‘catastrophic consequences,’” Abbott asserted.
Kamala serving as “Border Czar” has certainly led to a number of catastrophic consequences, that’s for sure.
“Your silence in the face of our repeated pleas is deafening. Your refusal to even visit the border for a firsthand look at the chaos you have caused is damning,” Abbott continued.
Biden is clearly keener about embroiling the United States in international warfare than protecting the nation’s own borders, which has rubbed multiple individuals the wrong way.
The salt in the wounds is especially piercing considering that the border had been largely under control during the Trump administration.
Indeed, Abbott noted that the Trump administration was known for “some of the lowest illegal-immigration figures it had seen in decades.”
Impressive figures that have been decimated by the Biden administration.
“Two years of inaction on your part now leave Texas with no choice but to escalate our efforts to secure our State … our open-border policies, which have catalyzed an unprecedented crisis of illegal immigration, are the sole cause of Texas having to invoke our constitutional authority to defend ourselves,” Abbott said pointedly, making it clear that Texas would no longer be counting on any real assistance from the federal government of any kind anymore.
Democrats, on the other hand, are apparently doing all they can to grant amnesty to illegal immigrants.
Senator Chuck Schumer, for instance, has hilariously claimed that the United States needs to increase its population, despite that demand flying in the face of the Green New Deal, which clearly advocates for lower populations.
“Now more than ever, we’re short of workers. We have a population that is not reproducing on its own with the same level that it used to,” Schumer boomed.
Gee, Schumer, thought all the environmentalists wanted lower birth rates.
“The only way we’re going to have a great future in America is if we welcome and embrace immigrants – the DREAMers and all of them – cause our ultimate goal is to help the DREAMers but get a path to citizenship for all 11 million, or however many undocumented there are here,” Schumer continued.
“However many undocumented there are here.” Oh, is that all? Do billions just magically grow on trees, Mr. Schumer?
Needless to say, conservatives from border states have made it clear that the White House’s response to the border has been absurd.
Especially as that response has been mirrored by the increasingly ineffectual Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
Texas Representative Mayra Flores blasted DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas for his blatant disinformation regarding the border
“As someone who lives the reality of our southern border every day, you say that the border was secure. You are lying to the American people,” Flores declared.
Which is precisely why Abbott is taking action, including the continued bussing of migrants to self-proclaimed sanctuary cities.
“Until the Biden Administration does its job and provides Texans and the American people with sustainable border security, Texas will continue doing more than any other state in the nation’s history to defend against an invasion along the border, including adding more sanctuary cities like Philadelphia as drop-off locations for our busing strategy,” Abbott asserted.
Philadelphia’s reaction was rather hilarious, as reported by Breitbart.
“The arrival in Philadelphia came as no surprise to city officials who spent last weekend in planning meetings for how to handle the arrival of less than 30 migrants. Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney said the city would be ready to ‘welcome them with open arms.’ It does not appear that Mayor Kenney was on hand on Wednesday morning,” the outlet reported.
Classic. Just classic.
First, city officials had to have all-weekend meetings … over a couple dozen migrants.
Second, the rather melodramatic mayor was not “on hand” to greet the very migrants he said would be receiving “open arms.”
Abbott is not only drawing attention to the serious crisis on the border, but he is also revealing the extreme lack of self-awareness evident in a wide array of sanctuary city officials.
