Crist Abandons Congress

Representative Charlie Crist, who now identifies as a Democrat after switching from the Republican party years ago, has declared that he will be leaving Congress in order to focus intensely on his campaign for the governorship of Florida prior to the midterm elections.

The Tampa Bay Times reported Crist’s intention to depart from Congress in order to promote himself in a valiant effort to defeat incumbent Republican Governor Ron DeSantis, who has proven to be enormously popular amongst constituents.

DeSantis is also widely touted to be the top pick for the GOP’s presidential nomination if former President Donald Trump opts not to run in 2024.

Crist recently won the Democratic gubernatorial primary in Florida. The Congressional representative has recently been criticized for overtly abusing a proxy voting rule that emerged during the COVID era, which permits a colleague to cast a vote on his behalf in Washington, D.C. while he was busy campaigning in Florida.

Crist has since indicated that he will resign from Congress, adding that his time as a Congressional representative has been both “an honor and a privilege.”

“These achievements start and end with you, the people – my bosses – who have guided my work in Congress since Day One,” Crist boomed.

Crist previously served as the governor of Florida from 2007-2011 as a Republican, though he ended up switching parties just one year later.

He eventually became a Congressional representative for the Democrats in 2016.

After Crist leaves Congress, the Democrats will have only 219 representatives left in the House, or only eight more representatives than the GOP currently holds.

Governor Ron DeSantis, who also served in Congress, left Congress as well, though only after he won the official governor’s race in Florida.

At that point, DeSantis departed from Congress in order to start working straight away for the people of Florida. One of the first actions he took as governor was to become the first state to apply for the Canadian Drug Importation Program, which helps lower the cost of prescription medications for numerous Americans.
