Americans Resist Forced “Green” Change

Electric Vehicles (EVs) have surged to attention once again on the national forefront, especially in light of California Governor Gavin Newsom’s declaration that gas-powered cars would no longer be sold in the state from 2035 onwards.

While consumers can continue to drive gas-powered cars after this time period, they will be unable to purchase new ones.

Outside of California, the Biden administration has been openly gunning for the transition to green energy, which has oftentimes been cited as the reason for why the White House destroyed the Keystone XL pipeline prospects and opted to depend on foreign oil instead until the transition to green energy is theoretically complete.

In June, Biden declared that the government would be working towards building a national network of 500,000 EV charging stations alongside highways and throughout communities, which constitutes a key element of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.

Despite the fact that the federal government is spending multiple billions of dollars promoting expensive EVs while the economy continues to nosedive into a recession, many Americans remain unimpressed by the promise of EVs.

Per a recent poll from Rasmussen Reports, which was conducted online and via telephone, the majority of Americans believe that EVs are wholly unpractical at this juncture in time.

Specifically, only 28 percent of adults in the United States believe that electric cars serve a practical purpose today, whereas 54 percent do not believe the EVs are practical.

A total of 18 percent of respondents remains unsure about the potential value of EVs.

Rasmussen Reports conducted its survey amongst 1,000 U.S. adults from August 17-August 18, and the results feature a 95 percent level of confidence. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points.

The results of the survey were released before California requested for residents to limit usage of electricity, including charging stations, due to a heat wave. The inability to use charging stations during extreme weather represents one of EV’s numerous impracticalities.
