FBI Faces A Losing Proposition

Following the utterly unprecedented raid of Mar-a-Lago, public trust in the FBI has plummeted to an all-time low.

At this current juncture in time, just under half of Americans have a favorable view of the FBI, per the results of a new Convention of States-Trafalgar poll.

When respondents were asked what their opinion regarding the FBI was, 46.2 percent indicated that the FBI was “too political, too corrupt, and not to be trusted.”

The numbers became even starker when broken down by party affiliation, with 68.3 percent of Republicans and nearly half of all individuals with no party affiliation reporting that both the FBI and DOH are entities that are “too political, too corrupt, and not to be trusted.”

However, amongst Democrat respondents, 73.7 percent indicated that the DOJ and FBI should “be respected for their pursuit of justice and law and order.”

When poll respondents were asked about the motivation underlying the raid of Mar-a-Lago, nearly half declared that the raid was carried out in order to prevent Trump from running for the presidency again in 2024.

The other half disagreed with this position, while only 3 percent were not sure one way or the other.

In general, 71.5 percent of Republican participants indicated that the DOJ was clearly trying to prevent Trump from running again, while 77.3 percent of Democrat participants did not believe that this was the case.

The poll also found that the respondents tend to be evenly divided with regards to whether or not the DOJ and FBI are telling the truth regarding their reasons for raiding the former president’s private home.

Whereas 77 percent of Democrat respondents believe the excuses provided by the agency’s, 72.8 percent of Republican respondents do not believe them.

Interestingly, a slight majority of independent voters believe that the FBI and DOJ are not being entirely forthright about their reasons for the Mar-a-Lago raid.
