Never one to shy from controversy, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has released a new campaign ad bound to irritate his leftist detractors.
Inspired by “Top Gun,” an unapologetic, non-woke film, DeSantis’s campaign ad features the Florida governor as “Top Gov.”
In the advertisement, DeSantis wears a leather jacket and aviator shades, and he gives a pitch from Freedom Headquarters regarding “today’s training evolution,” which includes “dogfighting” and “taking on the corporate media.”
Humorously, DeSantis declared his own “rules of engagement” with regards to dealing with the corporate media, which has veered increasingly to the left.
“[Rule Number One:] Don’t fire unless fired upon, but when they fire, you fire back with overwhelming force,” DeSantis proclaimed.
“[Rule Number Two:] Never ever back down from a fight,” DeSantis continued, “[and Rule Number Three:] Don’t accept their narrative.”
Over the course of his time as Florida’s governor, DeSantis has regularly sparred with the corporate media, which has taken issue with several controversial bills passed in the Sunshine State.
One of the most controversial bills centers on parental protections, chiefly the bill that blocks teachers from discussing LGBTQ matters with children in kindergarten through third grade.
DeSantis is also widely rumored to be a top contender for the 2024 presidential ticket in the Republican Party, especially if former President Donald J. Trump opts not to run.
In addition, the Florida governor is also widely believed to be the most likely candidate to defeat Trump in a Republican primary.
Despite the rumors regarding DeSantis and a potential 2024 presidential run, the Republican remains focused on the upcoming elections in November, where he will face off with Democrat Charlie Crist.
Crist recently defeated Nikki Fried, the Florida State Commissioner of Agriculture, in the recent primary elections.
DeSantis has become one of the most prominent Republican leaders in the nation, as well as one of the most lauded in terms of his approach to the COVID pandemic.
Unlike the Biden administration, which appeared intent on enhancing governmental restrictions, DeSantis closely followed the science, achieving far better outcomes than Democrat enclaves in New York and California.
