If there is one positive thing Democrats can be relied upon these days for, it’s for periodic humour, which is inevitable given their paradoxical behaviors.
The Mayor of Washington, D.C. Muriel Bowser, is well known for her liberal leanings, and she’s also becoming well known for freaking out over the illegal immigrants swarming the nation’s capital.
Of course, what Bowser is dealing with is rather minute relative to states that actually border Mexico.
In fact, those states have started busing migrants to the swamp due to Biden’s absence of response to the border, which is right up there with “Border Czar” Kamala’s response, so Governor Abbott and others decided to take matters into their own hands.
Much to the ire of Bowser, who recently issued a statement on the large number of illegals migrating to the swamp.
“With pledges from Texas and Arizona to continue these abhorrent operations indefinitely, the situation is dire, and we consider this a humanitarian crisis – one that could overwhelm our social support network without immediate and sustained federal intervention,” Bowser whined.
Well, gee. Imagine that.
The same exact scenario that Texas has been expressing for oh, eighteen months or more by this point.
Apparently, Democrats have to feel it themselves to get it, and Bowser is getting it.
“The pace of arriving buses and the volume of arrivals have reached tipping points. Our collective response and service efforts have now become overwhelmed,” Bowser continued, “tragically, many families arrive in Washington, DC with nowhere to go, or they remain in limbo seeking onward destinations across the United States.”
Tragically, the DHS decided to focus more on conservative parents than drug cartels, which would probably explain why the United States is starting to reach a “tipping point” with migrants.
What else does the nation expect?
“We’ve had a number of discussions. We’ve facilitated FEMA’s involvement with a million dollar grant that has now been increased to work with a lead nonprofit agency,” Bowser babbled, “we’ve facilitated using those grant funds to set up respite center in a neighboring jurisdiction and I’ve also asked the Secretary of the Army to deploy the D.C. National Guard to help lead that effort.”
FEMA. Wow.
Well, dealing with a massive influx of illegal migrants would be akin to major emergency management.
With caravan forecasts coming from thousands of miles away.
The far left mayor has also decided it’s a great idea to enlist the National Guard, clearly overwhelmed by the realities of Biden’s policies.
“I’ve asked for the deployment of the guard as long as we need the guard to deal with the humanitarian crisis that we expect to escalate,” Bowser declared.
All of the sudden Dems support police.
Of course, they also can’t risk fantasizing about their fantasy about totally centralized government creep into their commentary.
“The number of people crossing the border seeking asylum, we expect to only go up, we need to make sure that there is a national response, not an ad hoc city by city, state by state response,” Bowser asserted.
Oh, but of course. The only federal response thus far is to leave the borders largely open.
Besides, as the pandemic has shown, it’s pretty clear that there are a number of states that are vastly more equipped at dealing with emergencies than the government ever will be.
At the same time as an illegal migrant invasion, no less.
Abbott spokeswoman Renae Eze underscored the point that maybe the swamp is finally, just finally, getting it.
“Washington, D.C. finally understands what Texans have been dealing with every single day, as our communities are overrun and overwhelmed by thousands of illegal immigrants thanks to President Biden’s open border policies,” Eze asserted, “if the mayor wants a solution to this crisis, she should call on President Biden to take immediate action to secure the border – something he has failed to do.”
Maybe he’ll make a move before midterms.
