Republican Governor Ron DeSantis will soon embark on the DeSantis Education Agenda Tour, which will entail stops in Duval, Volusia, Sarasota, and Miami-Dade counties.
The DeSantis Education Agenda is guided by a student-first, pro-parent agenda, with a particular emphasis on the latter amid multiple school districts’ dismissal of significant parental concerns regarding school curriculum in various locations nationwide.
Virginia has achieved one of the worst reputations in the media for its anti-parent agenda, a major factor in the election of current Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin, a Republican.
The DeSantis Education Agenda includes several different objectives that clearly emphasize student and parent, rather than leftist union, needs.
For instance, the agenda rejects lockdowns and supports keeping schools open as often as possible, closing only in extreme situations.
The agenda strongly emphasizes education, rather than political and social indoctrination. Thus, it also supports parental rights, especially in terms of opposing critical race theory, critical gender theory, and a number of other theories that are highly inappropriate in a public school curriculum, especially for younger, more impressionable students.
The educational agenda features a strong emphasis on civics education, as well as technical education. The agenda also supports an expanded workforce development, as well as an increase in teacher pay to attract more qualified applicants to the field.
Moreover, the agenda provides ample support to various mental health initiatives, which have grown especially prominent in public discussions amid school shootings and negative associations with the pandemic.
Various school board candidates previously endorsed by DeSantis have pledged to run on the agenda. The Florida governor indicated that he had endorsed those particular candidates because he is fully committed to promoting curriculum transparency, student success, and parental rights, all of which began at the school board level.
“Parental rights, curriculum transparency, and classrooms free of woke ideology are all on the ballot this election, and it starts with school board elections,” DeSantis declared.
