Senator Joe Manchin has faced frequent pummeling in the press for his refusal to go along with several of Democrats’ gargantuan spending proposals.
One of the worst proposals of all includes Build Back Better, which would have entailed massive social spending programs and other measures designed to increase the size and power of the federal government.
However, while Manchin frequently faces angry retorts from President Joe Biden and his Democrat colleagues for voting with his conscience, others have come to his defense, including Republicans.
One such Republican includes Senator Marsha Blackburn, who agreed fully with Manchin’s decision to vote against more government spending.
Blackburn, similar to several economists, notes that periods of extremely high inflation are not ideal for starting a new, massive government spending program.
“We know that this is going to continue to drive up inflation,” Senator Blackburn remarked on “Wake Up America,” “so many people that I talk with say ‘9.1 percent inflation? They’re not looking at the things we spend our money on.’”
Blackburn’s defense of Manchin comes at an opportune time, given that he was just openly skewered by radical Senator Bernie Sanders for daring to oppose Biden’s seemingly endless green initiatives.
“[Sanders] wants the government, the federal government, to have control of your life 24-7,” Blackburn remarked in a matter-of-fact manner before reminding viewers about Sanders’s ill-advised honeymoon to Russia, underscoring the extent to which he is enamored by state owned assets and industries.
Blackburn observed that Sanders’s honeymoon location of choice undoubtedly spoke to a preference for a “socialistic approach to things,” which stands in sharp contrast to Senator Manchin and the constituents who he represents.
Manchin’s constituents, as observed by Blackburn, clearly do not care for a “climate tax,” and they are definitely interested in maintaining the tax cuts promoted by the Trump administration.
Blackburn also noted that many Democrats voted for Biden believing that he would be a moderate, though the end result has been anything but.
“But they feel like what the Democrats have done is to go total woke, total Bernie,” Blackburn remarked bemusedly.
