DeSantis’s War Chest Swells In Size

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who has become wildly popular due to his stance against authoritarianism, has recently amplified his war chest via fresh fundraising.

In the month of May, DeSantis raised a staggering $10.2M, which increases his present political war chest to $124M.

In contrast, top competitor Charlie Crist, who has decided to become a Democrat for this particular race, has a grand total of $10.2M in his own war chest, or the equivalent of what DeSantis raises in one month alone.

During May, Crist raised $1M, or under 10 percent of what DeSantis raised. The closest competitor to Crist, Nikki Fried, has raised a grand total of $6.9M, with May donations totaling $302,528.

Consequently, the incumbent Florida governor’s war chest is well over twelve times the size of Crist’s, as well as almost eighteen times as large as Fried’s.

Some of DeSantis’s most prominent fundraisers include a few dozen billionaires, including Charles B. Johnson, who is based in Palm Beach, otherwise known as home to Trump’s Mar-a-Lago. Johnson reportedly cut a check for $100K in May.

Additionally, Walter Buckley Jr., another billionaire based in Palm Beach, donated approximately $500,000 to DeSantis’s campaign in May.

However, the largest donor of all is the Republican Governors Association, an entity that has sent DeSantis upwards of $1.25M in May.

The immense fundraising reveals that Florida remains a major state for Republicans to retain in the upcoming gubernatorial midterm elections in November.
