‘Christmas Parade Killer’ Has a Convenient Excuse For His Actions

Darrell Brooks, who crashed an SUV into a crowd at the Waukesha Christmas Parade, has just delivered his first jailhouse interview.

One would think that Brooks might express an iota of remorse for the horrific crime he committed.

Unfortunately, Brooks opted to pity himself instead, complaining that he feels “dehumanized.” Apparently, the interview revolved around Brooks and his feelings.

Absolutely classic leftist.

And it’s quite clear where he gets the attitude from, courtesy of rather troubling commentary surfacing from Brooks’ mother.

Needless to say, she doesn’t appear to be in any hurry for her son to take any accountability.

Dawn Woods

“We are not making excuses, but we believe what has happened is because he was not given the help and resources he needed …

Institutions that are equipped and have trained staff is what was needed as well as resources in the communities where people who suffer with mental illness live … Jail is not the answer, because they get released back in society sicker than what they were when they entered. We all see what a tragedy that can turn out to be.” [Source: Fox News]

The real tragedy is that Ms. Woods bailed her son out of jail on November 5, after Mr. Brooks received a whopping $1,000 bail for attacking his ex-girlfriend with his SUV, resulting in a tire mark on her left leg.

A grand total of sixteen days after Brooks was bailed out by his mother, he used the same SUV to plow into a crowd at the Christmas Parade, senselessly taking innocent lives.

Had she not bailed him out of jail, the Christmas Parade Massacre would not have happened.

Which is why her other commentary continued along a path of total absence of self-awareness.

“What was meant to be a joyous day became a day of tragedy and heartache – a day that we wish with all our heart would have never happened.” [Source: Fox News]

Well, it certainly wouldn’t have happened had Ms. Woods not kept continuously enabling her son; that’s for sure.

And she’s clearly enabled him by her own admission, remarking upon Brooks landing in jail cells “over and over again.”

“Instead of offering help and resources to combat the problem, a jail cell was given over and over again.” [Source: Fox News]

And which “problem” might that be? The problem of repeated criminal behavior?

The “problem” of attacking his ex-girlfriend with an SUV? What about her health?

And as far as her complaints regarding repeat visits is concerned, it apparently hasn’t dawned on Woods that humans do have free choice, and they (clearly) can and do choose to engage in crimes of their own volition.

Thus, perhaps extensive repeat visits would not exist had crimes not been repeatedly committed. Alternately, repeat visits would not exist had bail been set appropriately in the first place, which would have not only resulted in an extended visit, but also have offered the public significantly greater protection.

It is frankly absurd that Woods was able to bail out her son in the first place, given the astronomically low bail.

Thanks, ultra-leftist District Attorney John Chisholm, for that.

After all, who can forget his sadly prescient, ultra-woke commentary years ago about his new and unimproved changes to the judicial system, namely much lower bail?

“Is there going to be an individual I divert, or I put into treatment program, who’s going to go out and kill somebody? You bet. Guaranteed. It’s guaranteed to happen. It does not invalidate the overall approach.” [Source: New York Post]

“You bet,” indeed.

And you can “bet” that Mr. Brooks’ self-pitying in jail is a direct result of his mother’s deadly coddling and Chisholm’s deadly leftism.

None of which is hidden by Chisholm’s efforts to backpedal now. Just consider his commentary (now) on low bail.

“The State’s bail recommendation in this case was inappropriately low in light of the nature of the recent charges and the pending charges against Mr. Brooks.” [Source: The Blaze]

You don’t say …
