Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) has recently called for Dr. Anthony Fauci to not only be fired, but also possibly face jail time. Paul alleges that Fauci lied to Congress over gain-of-function research, which warrants his calls for jail time.
Paul observed that the leaked documents that surfaced earlier in the week reveal that the National Institutes of Health (NIH) did in fact fund coronavirus research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology in China. However, on May 11, Fauci vehemently denied that the NIH hadn’t funded any type of coronavirus research in Wuhan.
However, documents obtained from the Freedom of Information Act revealed Fauci’s deception, and Paul notes that Fauci’s lies comprise a felony that carries a penalty of up to five years in jail. In a recent appearance on Fox News with Sean Hannity, Paul indicated that he referred Fauci and his dishonesty to the Department of Justice (DOJ).
Fauci’s crime is “a felony punishable by five years in jail,” Paul declared, and though he referred Fauci to the DOJ, he does not expect the Biden-run agency to do anything about it, which is unfortunate.
“It is very dangerous to have public officials, who we need to have trust in, coming and lying to us,” Paul said ominously.
Paul also added that the leaked documents reveal that the virus may have leaked out of a biosafety lab ranked at level 3, rather than level 4. The problem with level 3 is that it is nowhere nearly equipped enough to keep dangerous pathogens secure. In addition, researchers had also made the virus more infectious by adding s-proteins to it.
Furthermore, Paul also points out troubling statements that Fauci made back in 2012, namely when Fauci proclaimed that gain-of-function research was worth the risk of a major pandemic. Paul recalls being astonished that a person with such a mindset still runs research in the American government, especially in light of all the events that have unfolded in the past several months.
On September 7, Paul also asserted that Fauci lied to Congress about documents pertaining to the Wuhan coronavirus. He also posted on Twitter, calling for Fauci to “be held accountable.”
